(Not the leaked concept art thread) But I can't find it. :fp:

Anyway! Interesting post over on GAF regarding hidden (in plain sight) stuffs in E3 gameplay, and possibility of titan sized bosses of old:

E3 gameplay at bottom of page.

Apparently, the new God of War with its Norse mythology setting has switched to shoulder cam, which made some members ask themselves if we will still experience fights against giant, titan-level bosses during the game.

In this thread, I want to show and discuss possible candidates for boss and semi-boss fights resulting from the new scenario, as well as recap some amazing details of the E3 trailer. But first of all, there is a question to be answered: Will the new shoulder camera prevent us from experience those fights in the first place?!

Well, if you thought that the new cam and / or setting will reduce the size of potential candidates being axed by Hippster-Kratos, guess again!

Now, first you have to know two things before I go into detail about those big new enemies. First of all, the premise is that it is not a given that Kratos is going on a killing spree to get his revenge on the Norse Gods like Thor, Odin and Loki.
We don’t know anything yet about why Kratos turned up where he is now or who or what brought him there. So this game isn't necessarily about the classic “Kratos fights Gods and Titans and gets their mojo” approach, which made past GoW games so great. This is why I won't disguss fights against those well-known Norse Gods, we are all familiar with, thanks to Marvel :).

Furthermore, you have to know that the E3 trailer of God of War was packed with amazing details, some of them hidden well so they are popping up days after the show, here are some examples:

Image
Image

Now, here’s the literally big one:

Image

For those familiar with the trailer, this is the scene were we see the whole scale of GoW’s landscape, and surely the approaching Dragon catches our eyes. So, while most of us looked at that Dragon, there was a “little” detail which could easily be missed, a potential enemy which seems to be the much, MUCH bigger threat for Kratos and his son:
Image

Yes, that seems to be some giant snake moving from the right to the left, and some of us think it’s big enough to qualify for being the famous Midgard Serpent, also known as Jörmungandr or the World Serpent:
Image

This indicates we’ll be able to fight some of the trademark creatures of Norse mythology.
Here are some other candidates:
Image
Fenrir

Image
Surtr, the Devil Giant with the flaming sword
Now, those three are the “big ones”, as they take a major role during the event of Ragnarök, but as you might know, the norse mythology speaks of nine worlds, each having different kinds of inhabitants, like the Giants called Jötunn or Jötnar.

tl,dr: I have no doubt that GoW will deliver amazing epic fights against giant enemies.

Are some of you familiar with other potential enemies standing in the way of Kratos and hin son?

Ginormous bosses are as much of a GoW trademark as Kratos and so they better make it into this new game.

Hopefully he gets eaten so Kratos can turn into Joel.

Looks amazing, loved the original GOW series but really liking the fixed camera especially in that trailer. Day 1 for me.

For the first time in years I'm interested in God Of War. Is it known if that's the same Kratos voice actor? Would be nice to hear him actually act for once instead of shouting through the game.

The role has been recast. TC Carson has been the voice for Kratos in every God of War game (and the cameo appearances in things like Mortal Kombat and Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale), but for this new game Christopher Judge is the voice of Kratos.

Interestingly (or at least I find it to be), Kratos has always been voiced by black actors. I guess because of the visual appearance of the ashes staining his skin I just never really associate the character with that. I think some of the flashback cutscenes in the series do portray him as being darker-skinned but never actually black.

Does this work like historically? Were the vikings and greeks about at the same time?

Don't worry, I imagine it will uphold the historical accuracy on which the series was founded.

The heyday of the Classical Greeks was about 2,500 years ago, very roughly around 500 B.C.E., while the Vikings' heyday was sort of around 900-1,000 C.E., so around 1,500 years separate the two peoples.

I'm still hoping for some kind of Yahweh-based God of War game in the future. Start out as a miserable Canaanite nomad somewhere around Bronze Age Israel or Transjordan, get embroiled in one of the many wars the region faced then and become a Divine Warrior fighting Israel's enemies, glimpsing your pantheonic protectors in battle. Find your family killed horribly and/or enslaved to unknown masters after you come home, get offered some kind of revenge by El or Baal or one of those gods, then get rampaging until you are deemed worthy of becoming a God yourself. Then rampage s'more, facing off against mythological and historical figures from Israel, Egypt, Babylonia, Persia, the Greeks (including Kratos) and others as you hunt your scattered family down and brutalize their oppressors, then start cleaning your Holy House until you are the only God in town, just in time to sodomize the Sodomites and carry your wrath to the mortals.

Anyway this looks alright, the close-up camera is appreciated and the gameplay looks decent - better than Scalebound anyway. Norse mythology is very rich, with lots of beasts and deities and worlds, so I would expect there to be more games after this one with a Nordic theme.

 This got me.

Same as Chalky, haven't been interested in GOW for a long time. The change of setting and (hopefully) changes in Kratos will do wonders. I do not know too much of Norse mythology either so looking forward to discovering a bit more through sheer bloody violence.

There is a mortal to violent god story in the real recorded history of the Abrahamic God that looks for all the world like ideal God of War fodder, and it's not in the pop culturized Greek or Norse mythological spheres, but it is central to the mythology of the modern world as well as antiquity. I'm looking forward to God of Norse, it looks beautifully savage and gloriously resplendent in Viking mythological figures and settings, but there is a fantastic God of War-ish story in the story of Yahweh.

In another interview, Cory supposedly (it was mentioned on GAF, but the link to interview didn't actually mention all of these things) mentioned there will be no MP, and Kratos will not be killed off in this / he will remain the primary protagonist going forward.

Not properly played a GoW game before so will be keeping an eye on this, especially as I love Norse mythology (praise Odhinn the Allfather).
