Is it Kara? Because I've spent over an hour trying to beat her. I can get her health to the last block but she just goes to town on me then :dread:

Where was she? Im on my 5th one and in the mountain. Getting owned everytime I even try

Near the Witches gaff.

Ive done that one. She was hard but you can learn her moves in time. Here is a hint, always dodge to the right

The problem with her is that when she rushes you she's either going to do a blockable twirly wing attack, or an unblockable wing thrust and the red circle indicating the latter only pops up a fraction of a second before it occurs. Try to dodge the whirly attack and you get hit. Try to block the unblockable attack and you get hit.

It was very frustrating, but I just don't think I was levelled enough.

EDIT: Talking about the one in Alfheim btw

That one- I relentlessly spammed runic attacks and Boy's arrows and used the shield bash when she hid behind her wings.

Beat her now thank god

Yeah, I think I'm pretty content with GoW for now. The post game stuff, tho a nice challenge, just isn't motivating me as much right now. Would have loved more extra side story, not just grinding for tougher battles and rare items. If we ever get DLC, I'm jumping back in a heartbeat >,>

Ive just killed the soul eater. Im right at the beginning, being as my gaming is severely restricted these days :( think its gonna last me a while. Its amazing. Big departure from the previous trilogy. But enough of a nod to the old games to make it instantly accessible.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

I've been playing this over the last week or so, it's really good isn't it? The combat is great and feels really weighty, and I've been impressed by the story and character interactions so far. I was expecting the boy to get annoying the more I played, but he's actually really likeable. It's funny seeing him get excited about bits of lore and side quests, and I feel bad for him when Kratos reciprocates with a complete lack of interest

Out of interest, can anyone who's completed the game tell me roughly how far I am - I'm just getting the chisel so that we can go to Jotunheim and climb the peak there. I've been doing sidequests and things as we go so it feels like I've been playing a long while, but it doesn't seem as though the story is anywhere near coming to a climax yet.

Listening to the Easy Allies Spoilercast with Barlog and having my mind blown with all the details that he has woven into this game. He really has thought of everything and beyond, damn.

It seems like nobody answers your question, and I will answer this.

You've got fairly a lot to go in the main quest and I am ahead of you. I haven't finished the main game yet, but don't worry how much left you've got and it's plenty to come too.

Hope it helps.

Great, that's good to know as I'm enjoying my time with the game. Like I said it feels like I've put a lot of time into this already so it's a pleasant surprise I've still got lots to come.

I must be pushing 30 to 40 hours on this, and I can't see myself getting tired of it. Just spent a good chunk of time in Niflheim, levelling up my armour and finally managed to take down all the Valkyries.

She's a massive bitch, I dropped it to easy for her. In fact I changed the difficulty a number of times during my play through. I swapped form hard to normal and vice versa, a number of times. I was just her that forced me to succumb to the shame of easy.

I've not moved from Hard, except for one encounter to see what Normal was like. I die, a lot, but the game really does become a Souls-like on this difficulty.

God of War wants to have conversations about what it means for a cool murderer to become a dad. But it can’t even recognize that being a man comes with the ability to brute force your way through the world, causing irreparable harm to everyone by the very nature of unempathetic, patriarchal oppression. It’s a yarn more tired than the Aesop fables Kratos fails to tell, but it upsets the entirety of the thematic material by just existing. An elephant in the room that nobody involved can even bear to look at, much less begin to work on untangling.

I've seen a lot of these kind of articles of late, reactions to the near unanimous praise the game received in the mainstream gaming press, and I still don't know how I feel about them. Their central conceit is usually along the lines that the game is not the representation of fatherhood it thinks it is, rather it demonstrates the same toxic masculinity of the previous entries but in a different way.

I find it especially difficult to parse this line of thinking. The article above, for example, is not out and out wrong per say but I do think it's taking issue with the wrong aspect of the game. My immediate reaction is that the 'son button' as it calls it, is simply the equivalent of a quick-time prompt without the timer: the game does not need to provide you with the option to tell Atreus to throw down a chain but without that prompt there would be long sections without any interactivity at all. It's simply there to extend the player's agency over some non-interactive scenes.

I get that this may have unintended consequences but, and I truly hate this phrase, it does look like the author came at the game looking for something to dislike. Or it could just be that they had issues with the game's portrayal of men and this was the easiest way to express it.

The issue of these articles seems generally to be that the game is almost exclusively man-centric and I definitely get why that's a problem in this day and age where a huge chunk of gamers are female.

Hmm.

I played the entire story on Hard, apart from the first fight where you're up against 6-10 enemies; just couldn't get through it. Changed it back to hard a little time after that and stuck with it. I change the difficulty during some of the challenge sections/worlds and some of the valkyrie fights. I may have been able to do them eventually, but they were pissing me off and it didn't seem worth it.

People that have finished the story, would you agree with some podcasts that I've listened to that say your best to push through the narrative and leave the side stuff for the end game? I've done a load of the side stuff but as my gaming time is infrequent chunks I don't want to lose the thread of the story.

No, I wouldn't agree with that, but I suppose it's entirely down to personal preference.

I never did thank you for having my back there, but I did appreciate it (whilst also recognising the whole thing was in good spirit)!

Also, very close to having your quote there as my sig.
