It works really well because of the willingness of Arnie to poke fun at every film he'd ever made - I think the film was just unfortunate enough to be released at the same time as Jurassic Park, which was a monster hit(pardon the pun), and as a result of the poorer than expected box office results, the naysayers started shitting on Arnie's career.

Interestingly, I saw Red Sonja the other day - fantastic film. :lol:

Although Commando is arguably the most entertaining* action movie of all time. It's absolutely bloody brilliant!

I loved Jingle all the way, I don't think I've ever seen that Last action hero one though, I'll have to look it up.
