Infamous is a sandbox adventure game, centering around an every day courier named cole, who while delivering a package has it blow up in his hands. Waking up after the blast, Cole discovers that the only explosion not only destroyed a large part of the city he inhabits, but also endowed him with electrical superpowers. Cole sets out to escape the ravaged city and discover the origins of the explosion.

The gameplay involves the player controlling cole as he traverses the devastated empire city, completing tasks, collecting clue's to the cause of the explosion, and discovering the limits and potentials of your new electrical powers. Empire city is huge, and you can climb just about anything. Initially you can only climb, but soon you get the powers to grind on rails, hover through the air, and jump down from a rooftop of fifty stories to survive with no damage at all. As you progress through the game, you unlock new powers, and these powers vary depending on how you play, due to the in game karma system. As you go through the game, the actions you choose to take will either mark you as good or evil, and the powers you will unlock will vary because of it. Some of the neutral powers effects will also vary depending on whether you are good or evil. The story is told through phone conversations and comic strip style cutscenes, which fit the game really well. As you progress through the game the enemies level up in difficulty, and you unlock new parts of the city to explore. The only thing that holds back is the occasional glitch, slowdown, or pop up in the distance but these far from derive from the experience, only slightly blemish it.
Overall I think infamous is a fantastic game, an brilliant example of the sandbox genre, and a brilliant PS3 exclusive, with only a few blemishes to tar its brilliance. Go buy it. 93%
