Certainly flawed in combative areas, but the story is perhaps the most underrated from last gen.

Metal Arms: GITS.
Genuinely imaginative and rich with detail. I'd certainly file it under the "ignored" bracket.

Two games I really wanted to try.

Anyone got the GC versions they want to sell?

Freedom Fighters

THE best team-based 3rd person shooter on any of the last gen consoles simply because it gives you quite a few guys who follow you round (the more you play, the more you can have) so its not a big deal if they die, the AI is actually spot on as ive had guys find me from halfway across a level after I ordered everyone back and I left him behind as a lone sentry, the command system is terrificly streamlined and I dare anyone to name a better 2 player shooter (not multiplayer) on any of the last gen consoles. Fighting against another player and HIS army of soldiers he's ordering round is quite fun.

I thought Grand Theft Auto™: San Andreas was quite good.

Yes! The only thing I didn't like was that you weren't able to command individual soldiers (i.e. get the sniper to move somewhere while the rest fall back), but then due to the maximum number you could have this would have been problematic in the later stages. Other than that minor gripe the game functioned excellently. This along with Second Sight definitely need sequels. Metal Arms is so hard I'm still playing through it!

The problem is that at the point Chibi was released, I think that was pretty much just me and Invincible.

I never played it. Bah.

I had a GC since launch and never played Chibi-Robo

It's too expensive for me to consider picking up now, regardless of what people say about it. I still refuse to pick up FF7 because it's £15 on eBay.

Depriving yourself of FFVII? You must be mad. I'd pay a stupid amount for that game.

£15 for FFVII is actually bargain, I've find FFVII can reach way more than £20 myself.

I agree with Chibi Robo - sadly I've sold my copy as I need to make money. I did finish it 100% though, it was wonderful all the way. Especially the flower side-story...man, so many emotions for THAT side-story.

I should get it again, but I'm holding off till I got a job.

Freedom Fighters was great, as a squad game it was simple but that was why I liked it, it didn't get bogged down with a million things to think about.

As for other ignored PS2 gems, what about:
Sky Odyssey: A great fun little Pilotwings clone
Haunting Ground: Bizarre hide and seek survival horror with that dog following you around!
