Internet and youtube retro video game shows

So recently I have been thinking of making an internet show, while I've been at I've been watching some video game shows across the net (mostly youtube) and a few of them I think are pretty good.

Obviously Everyone has seen or heard of Angry Video Game Nerd and we have a thread in this section deicated to Pop Fiction on Gametrailers.

Anyway when I used to be on Racket Boy one show that got a lot of good feedback on there was Game Sack.

It's an ok show, not brilliant but its watchable, basically the whole point of the show is to show off video games on various systems, if you are one of those people who are looking for new stuff to play but don't know what to get then this show might help.

Also one I discovered yesterday was The Game Chasers, at first I wasn't fond of the concept of a show where a bunch of nerds drive around everywhere buying video games but I actually like this show, the way it presents itself reminds me of something you would see on Bio or the History Channel.

Also not strictly retro but I like Best Friends play on machinima, really funnny stuff.

They also have videos on their own channel:

Anyway thats all the ones I can think off right now.

I enjoy watching Retsupurae making fun of bad video reviews of old games. Some of their quips crack me right up.

Ripping on some guy's hacked Super Mario 64 review:

Making fun of a reviewer who never shuts up.

In this video they play a bad game themselves.

Sequelitis is very good.

The Mega Man X one is my favourite.

You may also recognise some of these subtle game design teaching tricks from, for example, Portal.

Has Game Center CX been mentioned in here? It's amazing.

Wasn't sure to make a new thread or not as it might die on its arse since I don't know how popular it is here, but Classic Game Room is ceasing to be. :( :(

At least he's continuing it part-time, so that's a little silver lining, but god damn I'm gonna miss hearing Mark's awesome voice on a daily basis. Must be 5 years now since I originally subbed. Seems like the nicest guy, I wish him the best with what he's going to be doing instead.

At least we still have Game Sack.

Just read about it on gaf. Pretty sad to see it end. I can't even imagine how many hours a day the guy spent playing games to review as many as he did.

I have been watching Game Sack for quite a while, it's an okay show. I would recommend ProJared, Jon Tron, Peanut Butter Gamer and perhaps Metal Jesus Rocks.

CGR are really great presentation with a lot of heart. I liked his enthusiasm about old games for £1 having more gameplay than any CoD game. Guy had a point and got me digging out some old games and trying to think more broadly at my collection whenever I feel like playing a game. What a shame.

Happy Console Gamer is my fave. Also Metal Jesus Rocks, Game Sack and Game Chasers. Oh and Stop Skelletons From Fighting.

Classic Game Room is ending this year :(

Personally I love Stop Skeletons from Fighting. Really insightful and passionate.

Game sack is a great show and they usually pick good games to show off. The reviews are not that insightful really but the production is superb. The console dedicated episodes are especially good.

I love Game Chasers too.

Intergalactic space arcade

CGR is the only channel I bother with. At least I have a backlog of videos to watch.

I can't quite work it out - I *think* that the CGR Undertow part of CGR is closing / shrinking / changing.. and the forum and shop web elements are closing... but CGR itself is continuing?

CGR (Mark) is only doing videos on a part-time basis now. So not every day.

EDIT: Undertow is closing and the store / site are shutting down as far as I can tell.

That's my take on it, too, Spinny... CGR as a whole isn't closing, "just" the CGR Undertow / forum / web store bits.

I really like Mark's (CGR) reviewing style and Derek's (CGR Undertow) approach had really grown on me.

CGR(U) is dead. Long live CGR!

Basically Mark can't afford to keep the show going (renting that space to hold all his games and machines costs a fortune!) and is only continuing it as something he does in his spare time as opposed to being his full time job.

Blame Let's Plays. That's all people want to watch anymore. :(
