I'm staying in halls and trying to use torrents but they don't seem be working - any ideas on what to do to fix it?

Try changing the port number in the settings.

Ok I didn't realise where I had to go but once I did :fp:

Anyway that didn't seem to work, any more ideas?

Im pretty sure youre not able to torrent, they block peer to peer connections or something like that. When I was living in halls I could never get it to connect. Someone might know a way around this but I never figured it out.

We used to be able too, but then the admins figured out how to block it :lol:

I could still connect to the Uni VPN, which bypassed the firewall and meant I could torrent at amazing speeds

Not man people knew about that.

You're best off getting a rapidshare account.

When I was in halls last year they didn't block any torrents 8-)

When I worked for UNITE they used to stop you torrenting by restricting your speed if you took the piss. Probably not the source of your problem now, but worth remembering if you suddenly have your internet slow to a crawl.
