Right, I'm fairly sure this is an issue with the wireless connection between my computer and my router rather than with my internet connection itself, but the thing's really pissing me off. Every now and again, it will refuse to connect to any websites, and it will sign me out of MSN, but it will stay connected to Steam, and continue to update games etc. I try running a diagnosis on my internet connection, and it says it's found no issues. So I run a diagnosis using MSN messenger and it says it's a DNS error. Disabling then re-enabling my wireless adapter seems to fix this issue, temporarily, but it keeps happening.

On top of this, I've been having issues whenever I try to play TF2 as my internet connection seems to drop completely, I'll get the not connected message in the system tray, when I look for games maybe 70% of the time.

I had no trouble with this adapter before, so I don't see why it would be crapping out on me now, but I'm not sure what the strawberry float else it would be.

EDIT: It happened again whilst I was typing this. :x I have to open up a page to connect to my BT Home Hub, and there it tells me that an internet connection is not active, but clicking a button that says connect to the internet fixes it for a short while. Thing is, the lights on the router show that there is an internet connection, and I'm still connected to my Steam friends list. :|

I used to get this a lot when using azureus (on a bt home hub). I would loose all ability to connect to the internet through the browser and other apps, and so would all the other devices connected to the home hub except azureus would still keep on downloading.

Ive got no fix for you though mate, mine just stopped doing it and I don't know what cured it, we've had numerous problems over the years and they have sent us a total of 3 home hubs, I switched them round a while back and changed the wireless channel to get a better signal to my ps3.

Perhaps try a hard reset if you havent done so all ready (called comething like that) Hold the button down on the back of the router for 30 seconds, this totally resets the router (you have to reset its password and that) see if this helps.

There are settings and wot not that get set in routers and can not be unset, doing this gives everything a fresh start. Also does it have the latest firmware? Mine is 6.2.6.H. It is suppose to upgrade it automatically as its complicated as fishsticks to get it installed manually.

Sounds like a ISP problem, especially if the DNS is being raised as an issue. Contact them if it keeps happening.

Well, it seems to be holding together for now, but I've no idea why. Thanks for the suggestions anyway, I'll be sure to get in touch with BT if it does start happening again.
