Cheers for the replies everyone - went with Virgin in the end. I went to their store and they said they could match the deal I saw online, then they actually bettered it (they gave me 12 months instead of 18, so I don't pay the full price at all for the duration of the contract). That'll do me for the year!

Next task is getting Freeview in a house which has Virgin cables in every room
