Thoroughly enjoyed this. That strawberry floating Zimmer score. :datass:

I thought this was mindblowingly good. I'd only seen this first trailer and didn't know what to expect.

I think that helps. I had expectations and I was reviewing it so I was constantly trying to piece together an opinion rather than just enjoying it. That's why second time around I liked a lot more.

There's a summary of the original script Steven Spielberg was circling here - http://interstellarfilm.wikia.com/wiki/2008_script

Some pretty big differences to the finished product.

Also, the strawberry floating docking sequence near the end is probably the single most exciting scene I've seen at the cinema this year :datass:

Cooper: Match the Endurance's spin
TARS: It's impossible
Cooper: It's necessary

Dat McConaughey :datass: :datass: :datass:

Just seen this after going in blind.

It's definitely not Nolan's best. The most fitting summary would probably be "flawed spectacle." The fact that he's made a thrillingly entertaining blockbuster about quantum relativity and 5th dimensional space is astounding in itself but plausibility and logic took a leap out of the window to accommodate it. Certain aspects didn't work or required an ungodly amount of blind eye turning, the script was occasionally hammy as strawberry float and, just like every Nolan film ever, there were some serious editing issues. Still, no matter what flaws were present it was an incredible experience... The docking sequence alone was worth seeing the film for. And Tarrs of course. Love me some Tarrs.

EDIT: Oh, and it should have ended with the "What happens now?" line.

It drove me crazy trying to place TARS and CASE's voices.

I just relived that scene with this. IT WAS SO GOOD! I gripped the arm of a friend after he said that line. So intense. I didn't see any flaw in the movie. Helped by the fact you can drink 0,5l bottles of beer in the cinema in Germany and I was on my 3rd.

I was under the impression Matt Damon was voicing one of them before I saw it, and TARS sounds a lot like him so when he actually turned up I was pretty shocked.

That completely threw me, as did most of the cameos.

Neil deGrasse Tyson seems to like it:

http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/movie-vs- ... erstellar/

In #Interstellar: On another planet, around another star, in another part of the galaxy, two guys get into a fist fight.

That film was average compared to this though.

Yeah, Gravity looks positvely middle of the road when compared to something as bad as Interstellar. At least gravity had nice effects ;)

I'd have to see it again to quote specific examples but there were certain sections whose intercutting was very disjointed and haphazard. The last two Batman films had the same problem* as did Inception.

*The scene in Dent's office where he's interviewing Gordon just... ends. It cuts, seemingly in the middle of a sentence. I noticed something similar here, though not as bad.

Did you see Interstellar? because by that statement, anyone would think you hadn't.

Also in TDK- Joker throws Rachel out of the window at the campaign party and Batman dives to save her. Scene ends there without Batman grappling back up to the party to arrest Joker.

More of a screenplay issue than editing. And as for cutting in the middle of a sentence, was it to change the angle in the same scene? Or did it move to a new scene? I don't see cutting to a different angle as an editing problem.

Honestly, I haven't noticed any editing problems in Nolan's films, but now you mention it I may be more aware of it.

The scene I was referring to ends. Cuts from Gordon's face to a flyby of Wayne tower. Have a look round t'internet, Nolan's editing is quite well known as a weakness.
