I'm really not sure. I managed to find a page for a Richard Taylor who seems to do blues rock, but that's about it, but I wouldn't describe his vocals as "soaring".

Hmm, I see.

Haven't been able to find anything on this 'David Hawkins' either.

Where did this come from? Admittedly I haven't been paying attention to Maiden related news in a while, but still. Completely unexpected.

Take my money, Steve!

Yeah and it doesn't seem like there's going to a single either.

Was going through the catalogue chronologically, as I do whenever a new Maiden related release is on the horizon, and I gotta say I really don't get the love for Piece of Mind. To me, it's the weak link in the Super Seven. Quest for Fire may be worst Maiden song...although, it's been while since I've listened to anything on No Prayer.

According to the Facebook page, the whole album will streamable tomorrow on the official site. :D

At 11am to be precise.

I've only listened to a few tracks. Really not sure about those vocals. :?

The vocalist is alright. Not amazing by any stretch but adequate. The production is awful and makes him sound worse than he is.

Interesting tunes, judging by the first few songs. I wish Harris would stick some of these ideas in his Maiden output.

Ok, I've come around, I actually quite like it. Sounds so much better with headphones.

Yeah, I agree with this. I'd love for them to try something quite different with the next album.

Eugh, Maiden are playing Download again. Last time the crowd really didn't do them any favours. They were touring AMOLAD, and you could tell a lot of people there didn't know most of the new stuff. Such a waste. Having seen them announce a stadium show in Sweden, I was hoping for a set of those in the UK too. Have they confirmed Download will be their only UK showing this year?

Although, with Slipknot and Rammstein as the other headliners, it doesn't look like it'll be a bad festival.

Have they only announced two dates?
That's all I can see on their site.

So far, yeah.

I don't want to leap in and get a Download ticket if they announce a solo UK tour, too, although I can see it being pretty unlikely.

Clive Burr passed away last night. :(

http://www.ironmaiden.com/former-iron-m ... -away.html

We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last night. He had suffered poor health for many years after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and died peacefully in his sleep at home.

Steve Harris said “This is terribly sad news. Clive was a very old friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and those around him and our thoughts and condolences are with his partner Mimi and family at this time."

Bruce Dickinson adds “I first met Clive when he was leaving Samson and joining Iron Maiden. He was a great guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humour or irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with Mimi and the family”

As Maiden fans all know, Clive joined Maiden in 1979 and performed on the first three albums Iron Maiden (1980), Killers (1981) and The Number Of The Beast (1982). Prior to that he was a member of Samson, the band Bruce fronted before he too joined Maiden.

That's really sad news. The poor guy really suffered with that illness.

My first Maiden concert was one of the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund shows at Brixton Academy, 2002. They played the Brave New World tour set list plus Children of the Damned, and Clive came out at the end to throw us some drumsticks. Didn't get one, but I've still got the t-shirt and wear it every time I see them.

It was always nice to read on the website how they spent the money raised at those shows over the years, including making his house fully wheelchair accessible, etc.

And what a great drummer.

His drum parts are awesome on the first three albums. I mean, the beginning of The Prisoner anyone? Looks like I'm listening to those albums tonight.

RIP Clive.
