Is it acceptable for an adult to drink squash?

Fed up talking videogames? Why?

Is it OK for adults to drink squash?

Yes, it's perfectly reasonable. Squash is for everyone.

Sky Broadband's new advert is about a guy who gets annoyed at things, and at one point he berates adults who drink squash. 'Youre a fully grown person!', he derides. I've never even considered the possibility of squash being a drink purely for children, am I doing it wrong?

I've not seen the advert, but I'd say the most immature thing an adult can do is tell other adults that they are immature for enjoying certain drinks/foods.

Yes, it is acceptable. I've always had squash; got a couple of bottles in the cupboard right now!

I drink it often, a glass of fresh water is great when it’s too warm outside, but nothing wrong with squash the rest of the time I’m not drinking yet another cup of tea.

In the winter I tend to have hot squash as a break from tea or coffee; it's warming and heartening!

Yes Jawa! Hot Ribena is a great hot alternative to Tea when you need to cut back on the caffeine.

They rebranded it as cordial and stuck it in glass.

Yes perfectly fine.

Never thought of it as immature but I suppose..... I see it as a kids drink just because I haven't drunk it since I was a kid. I didn't drink the preferable fizzy drinks as a kid, but I occasionally drink coke/Fanta or juice (also not an 'adult' drink and would be considered more immature by the same logic) now.

I suppose if there is an immature angle; is the reason parents give kids squash so they actually drink water? When we drink coke/ fanta it's not for hydration, we know it's not good for us we do so for mouth pleasure / a treat. I drink water without dilution, I suppose if adults are needing to self parent to hydrate themselves by flavouring water then.......maybe?

But really doesn't matter, better than not drinking water. Enjoy :D

Except maybe Robinsons / squash adverts :capnscotty: ;)

Edit. Also I drink herbal and green tea which is a gateway drug to fruit tea which is like warm blackcurrant which I enjoy but is the lowest of the low. So no judgement

I rarely have Ribena but, when I do, it is pretty tasty, Roonmastor! In past years I've tended to get cheaper, supermarket own-brand stuff and it's been okay. Apple and blackcurrant is my fave!

I did notice a few months back that Robinsons had a range of squashes targeted at older people; it appeared to be pretty much the same but twice as expensive  . I believe that cordials tend to be the same product as squashes; albeit cordial seems to give a more upmarket impression!

Yeah, it's never occurred to me as an adult to drink squash as a cold drink during the day - chilled water is lovely and refreshing, no need for all those flavour additives - but it's up to people to do what they want.

The last time I tried some it just tasted really artificial anyway. I have a glass of fresh orange juice sometimes, tastes a million times better.

I've never thought of squash / cordial as being only for kids. I would guess lemon squash and lime cordial are actually flavours that might appeal more to adults than kids. Are the people who wrote that ad getting "squash" mixed up with, like, Capri-Sun, or the infamous Sunny Delight?

To me, squash means that concentrate stuff you dilute with water? I'm guessing that's what we're all talking about.

Acceptable to whom? The sort of person who would sneer at you for only having a coke in the pub because you’re driving? Yeah, they’d probably think it unacceptable.

You play video games and drink squash? Do you still suck on your mum’s teats too?

Who cares what they think?
