Is Live Arcade better than 360's full retail library?

Anything to do with games at all.

Well is it?

No, but it's a very valuable addition to the software library.

Not even close. The 360 has far too many quality retail titles.

Over the coming months I don't think we're going to get anywhere near the same treatment

Oh, I absolutely agree. Having said that, Meteos is a decent coup, and there are a couple of decent games on PartnerNet which might surprise a few people.

It's a great 2D multiplayer shooter whose single-player game suffers horrendously from one of the most vertical difficulty spikes (on the second boss) I've ever, ever seen.

The 360, PS3 and Wii games put together. Clearly.

In other question news, which is better: Tito, or the entire Jackson 5?

I believe the answer you're looking for is Michael.

Well...its closer than most people think.

It'd take a couple more months of XBLA releases like the last one. Obviously not going to happen, but the fact that its that close is pretty amazing.

more heat than light wrote:I'm starting to think it is. I don't know if it's the ease of getting into a game rather than opening a box and putting in a disc, but I'm finding myself playing XBLA games more than the full releases. The last five weeks have been ridiculously incredible, and that's following a year in which we've had Rez HD, N+ and Ikaruga. And I know it's not great, but I am seriously addicted to Fable 2 Pub Games.

I know we've had some classic full games (Orange Box and Halo 3 spring to mind) but this is like actually owning another platform entirely. Pick up and play gaming at its very best, just like it used to be. God bless you, Live Arcade. :)

This has to be a joke, right?!

I'm not sure I would go that far but I think a great number of people forget to factor in the XBLA library when they talk about the 360 games library as a whole. I do think these download services are the best thing to happen this generation though (yes, better than HD, waggle and the rest).

I have played more XBLA games than disc games over the last few months but the big budget AAA disc games on 360 are far better than the XBLA games.

PSN has a much better exclusive line up than the PS3 exclusive disc games though.

Completely agree with all of that. It's an amazing advance in the world of videogames. Thinking about it some more I reckon that I was perhaps a little hasty with my inital claim, although I definitely think that XBLA is one of the most important factors in the superiority of 360 this gen.

I resent that developers see Xbox Live Arcade as a dumping ground for all sorts of zany rubbish. Recent examples would be "Braid" and "Castle Crashers" which really are pretty boring games.

Well really, Castle Crashers looks like gooseberry fool and it's just a copy of Golden Axe. Why would someone buy this instead of the original on Nintendo Wii Virtual Console?

Or indeed, Golden Axe on the XBLA.

Probably 'cause it's actually better. But I should know better than to reply to that.
