Is the 2012 Nexus 7 still a good tablet?

The 32GB ones are available new around the 100 quid mark so I'm tempted to pick one up. Looking into it though I've seen some talk about the performance of the tablet getting nobbled by OS updates. Any opinions from owners/former owners?

Mine is still good, though I stuck Cyanogenmod onto it.

I haven't looked into modding it, but I've found mine's become quite sluggish these days. It's fine, but I'd shell out the extra for the second one if it was me.

Don't use mine an awful lot since I got my iPad Mini.

Have to say though if I was tempted to spend much more than £100 I might well go for something other than a 2013 Nexus 7. The extra size on an 8 inch tablet is definitely more of a plus than you might think.

If you can stretch to £219 then this looks like a pretty good buy to me...

EDIT - Of course if you are feeling adventurous you could try to import a Xiaomi MiPad (you are looking at around £175 then whatever customs charge you might get)...
