Iran responded with some easily intercepted drones and missiles. Causing no deaths.

It'd be better if both sides stopped acting like utter twats, but I'd say it was very easy for both sides to stop here and not escalate further.

Indeed. On the face of it, Iran's looka excessive, and easily describable as a declaration of war. Sending 300 explosive projectiles towards another country yet it was clearly done in a carefully calculated way that they knew they would all or almost all be shot down and that it would look like a strong response to their own population. If it stops here then Iran can claim they hit back hard and showed Israel not to mess with them but Israel can shrug it off and laugh, saying well that didn't hurt.

Exactly.

Iran: "we have avenged the attack on our consulate!"

Israel: "we stopped Iran's attack, any further hostilities will be met with a show of force!"

Rest of the world: "grow the strawberry float up you dickheads"

So alongside the Houthi in Yemen attacking shipping in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, Iran have now seized a container ship that was "linked to Israel" in the Strait of Hormuz, entryway to the Persian Gulf.

Most major shipping lines took to diverting around the cape of good hope when the Red Sea became too dangerous, and I can't imagine there's much appetite for them to continue shipping in the Persian Gulf if any vessel that can be tangentially linked to Israel is now at risk there, too. I doubt Iran's neighbours with ports in the Gulf, including the UAE, will be too happy to lose the economic benefits of their export trade when that comes under threat.

Iran have already responded and they've decided not to escalate it any further.

Sauce? Associated Press saying they've fired at Israeli drones.

Directly. I'd imagine all the proxy routes to attack will be stepping up.

No missile attack against Iran, Iranian official tells Reuters
Explosions heard in Isfahan were a result of the activation of Iran's air defence systems, an Iranian official told Reuters on Friday, adding that no missile attack was carried out against Iran.

More updated article saying 3 drones were shot down and that's it.

There was only one explosion by an airport and flights have already been resumed. If they were going to respond it would've happened by now/they would've said they were doing something and kept flights grounded.

Well that's comforting. I mean realistically Iran aren't going to want this to escalate, so hopefully this will de-escalate from here so long as Israeli put a sock in it.
