Great game DML. I do think, though, that you should be careful about calling Phyllis useless. 4th place in the final is not to be sniffed at!

But to echo what others have said, a lot of thanks to DML for running this game. Been a lot of fun...never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I did! Kudos to you man.

And it's all over! What a finale! What a season! Never before has excitement been seen in the field of text based horse-racing forum games. Congrats go to Jajinsky and team England for their fortunate underhand well deserved victory and also to the winner of Ropey Ropes' betting competition, which is displayed in this poorly laid out table below:

Satriales -£100
Dalax -£50
Mommy +£160
Kanbei -£7.30
Fatal Exception -£20
Dark Ritual +£14
O T N +£28
JK +£5
Irene -£35.20
Red Devil +£4
Drumstick +£225.50
Call and Answer -£65
Nova -£70
Zenigame -£77.50
Cuban Pete -£40
Staydead +£20
Roon - £78.50
Skippy +£20
Frank -£30

So as we can see, commiserations to Satriales! The wooden spoon is on it's way to you. Useless!

And congratulations go to Drumstick! Amazing betting, turning in a profit most weeks helped in the main by Big Slick's performances in the middle weeks. A PM will be on it's way to you soon with a hastily arranged selection of random stuff I don't need any more prizes.

Thanks go to DML for putting an amazing amount of time and effort into the game and well done to all you guys who kept up the interest levels.

Thank for betting with Ropey Ropes! Buffalo's favourite bookmaker.

Well done Ropes. The better was a nice touch but it has become integral to the game.

No coincidence that England win, Jajinsky wins, Drummy wins.

Best all round. 8-)

Lost in the races, lost in the betting. At least Australia was consistent 8-)

Kudos and thanks to DML (and Ropes) for running things :D

Great job running this DML, it was clear you put lots of time and effort into it and it was good fun to play even if my horse was deceptively useless.

I proudly accept the wooden spoon for my betting abilities. I started off backing my own horse and he stumbled under pressure every time, so then I don't back him and he wins the race! :fp:

I'd like to ask one question...did it FEEL realistic?

Obviously things like having the lanes advantage is artificial - as obviously doing good, good to soft, firm going - factors like that is too difficult to do - but did it feel like it was genuine?

With the exception of Jumping, it felt about a 7 on the realism scale. (Out of 10)

Yeah, it felt real in the sense that the jumping system always left the chance of a faller, irrespective of skill.

How did you plan the races?

Yeah, it felt real in the sense that the jumping system always left the chance of a faller, irrespective of skill.

The breakdown is this.

Use game 'The Really Nasty Horse Racing Game'
Draw lanes randomly
Goes through six horses stats, and find best two in each area.
Best two in each area for that race get the boost for that area. In the event of a tie, all horses get it.
First three stats combine to make the 'class' of the horse. Class and Lane are combined to come out with odds, which I then trim to make them more realistic.
Jumping bonuses for the best two jumpers in the race, giving them better protection from falls.
Run race. If horse lands on fence, roll for fall. Smaller rolls required for better jumping horsies.
