PostITV rebrand goes Live following total collapse of ratings
by KK » Thu Aug 30, 2012 9:35 pm

Broadcast via various wrote:ITV set to completely overhaul its series of Networks

A report from Broadcast is claiming ITV is set to drop the numeric 1 from its flagship channel for the first time in a decade as part of a forthcoming rebranding exercise.

The rebranding of ITV1 is among a number of changes being made by the commercial broadcaster.

The trademark yellow colour scheme on ITV1 will be phased out, with a new set of Idents, Digital On-Screen Graphics and Trails being introduced.

ITV's digital channels - ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV - will be given a "substantially different" on-screen presence, although these will be retaining their existing numbers.

"This is a big undertaking and will have a sense of scale," said one ITV source. "It is aimed at ensuring viewers attribute our content to the ITV brand."

Rufus Radcliffe, the group marketing and research director at ITV, is said to be leading the rebrand.

ITV's continued ratings decline continued apace last night (Wednesday 29th August), as Britain Then and Now pulled in 600,000 viewers, making it one of the worst prime time ratings in the history of the channel.

This what happens when you air absolute gooseberry fool. It's all well and good rebranding but it's the programming that needs the radical overhaul.

My number one piece of advice would to stop making every new show you do some kind of Murder/Kidnap 3-parter where the main character is a police officer with a troubled past.

Is there any need for ITV 3 and 4?
On ITV 3 right now is "The Butlin's Story" followed by Lewis and Inspector Morse.
ITV 4 is Europa Live which could easily be put onto ITV 1 instead of Doc Martin, followed by Cycling highlights, then Rocky V.

The only decent things on ITV 4 are Quantum Leap and 1960's Batman.

Combination of UK and USA. Though I think it's actually just two episodes that are then repeated later in the day :fp:

Seriously. Usual morning slot, two repeats at lunch time and his American show at tea-time. :fp:

Between the 4 channels they have the makings of a half decent schedule. ITV1 is pure gooseberry fool though.

Put Coronation street on the BBC, ITV can go die.

ITV have been smashing records left and right this year, particularly over the Olympics. One contender after another for WORST RATINGS EVER.

I think ITV have also got an unhealthy obsession with Simon Cowell. How else can you explain the return of Red or Black, which is once again delivering gooseberry fool ratings on a Saturday (3.4 million in prime time). Beaten by everything on BBC1, including another airing of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Yeah that's their big problem. Trying to stretch too little content across too many channels in order to increase advertising revenue.

Airs at 3 or 4am too.

Still, I'd take some of Jezza over X Factor and other similar shite anyday.

Basically, anything with Ant & Dec is trash.

I blame reality TV for the declining standards of TV in general over the last few years. Bring back the prime time family gameshow!

ITV is pure gash. They put some of their good stuff on the crappy channels no one cares about. Why isn't Celebrity Juice on [s]Channel 4[/s] ITV1?
