I’ve dumped the DVR - anyone else only use on-demand streaming?

Fed up talking videogames? Why?

Do you still use a DVR?

Looking at getting a Smart TV in the next couple of months (I mainly use Amazon, Netflix and NowTV) so it'll be more convenient for me.

What's the simplest way to record from the Freeview tuner, can I just plug a USB stick into the back of the TV or is there more to it than that?

Depends on the TV. It’s been a while since I looked at the instructions, but I think on my Sony it has to be a HDD rather than a flash drive and it only works on Sony’s freeview service. So if you enable YouView it won’t work. In theory it’s also supposed to work on satellite much like Sky+ (2 tuners) but it only works in Europe and not the the U.K. because the TV guide which would signify when to start and stop recordings is bust.

On the previous Samsung I had the HDD also had to be reformatted, so could only be exclusively used for recording. The same applies to the Sony.

To record two programmes at once will require the TV to be fitted with two tuners.

Reviews rarely cover this feature in any depth so it’s worth being a pain in the backside down your local Curry’s.

Moves to streaming a few years back, I have an app called TV Time that helps me keep track of new episodes and thing as that the only issue with just using streaming is keeping track of stuff especially with it who's app is just gooseberry fool.

Looking at the PS4 app list last night it suddenly reminded me I still have access to the Sky Go app for free as I’m a Sky VIP customer...which allows me to watch everything I’m subscribed to in 1080p, just without the need of a Sky box anyway. Unbelievable, Jeff.

I don't use a DVR but I also don't only use on-demand streaming, and I have freeview

This poll confuses me and I voted freeview
