Satoru Iwata’s told the Wall Street Journal that Nintendo’s working in on-demand video options for Wii, with DSi be used as a remote player.

“If the Wii and the DS are connected, it should be possible to download video through the Wii and take it with you on the DS,” he said.

“When the service begins, you’ll see how we’re going to do it differently in a Nintendo-like way. There are a lot of on-demand video services, so there’s no reason to do the same thing, so we’re going to do something different.”

Iwata added: “We’ll start the service in Japan, and if it does well, we’d like to take it overseas.”

Blimey. All sounds a bit definite, doesn’t it? Looks like 32Gb SD cards are going to be popular.

I would totally download the pokemon cartoons on my DSi.

The 1st episode still nearly has me in tears at the end :(

...If the target platform is DS, and the DS/DSi (presumably he meant the DSi... where would you store a downloaded movie on a DS classic?) has download capabilities of it's own, why would you even need to involve the Wii?

By "different" I'm assuming he means worse.

Release empty DS carts that can be written upon?? So insert into DS and then download data VIa wii to the cart?? That or he ment DSi which would mean once it launches a huge marketing push for consumers to upgrade.

Would you actually pay to watch Pokeman? :| Because there is not a chance that Nintendo will be offering all this stuff for free when there is profit to be made.

Backwards, lacking and unnecessarily awkward, I expect.

I'll admit, it's the first thing that came to mind for me too. Well put it this way, it can't be worse than Sony's European Video Store. That one which doesn't exist yet.

Personally, I like the idea of inputting 16-character download codes for everything you want to watch.

They won't make it that complicated, simply because there's no means for paedos to access your kids through the medium of video.

That's what they want you to think, but if internet paedophiles can project poison gas through a child’s keyboard, anything is possible.

What makes you (or anyone else) think this is going to be TV programs?

All he says is video...could be video of anything.
