There are other alternatives to the iPad though, more premium Android offerings that are definitely closer in terms of how slick they feel. The Fire range really is about mass market so it's not really trying to be high end

I've steadily reduced how close I get to flagship mobile devices over the years and the associated cost (Galaxy S2 on a hefty contract>S4 Mini>Moto G5S>Redmi Note 9 for under £100 outright). I honestly don't miss having a flagship phone and I don't think my experience is demonstrably worse. Maybe Marvel Snap might load quicker if I had a Z Flip but I'll cope!

One thing I would say is that, despite preferring Android myself, iOS seems to be a less buggy experience from using my wife's devices. Every Android device I've had does (or did) something a bit funny here or there.
