Little Big Planet really broke the combo. I think you can tell I'm not a huge shooter fan and have never owner an xbox!

All true. I may not have played all those games to completion, but I’ve tried them enough to get a feel for them. Then the ones I do spend more time with must be the ones I really want to be playing. Works well for me.

Does playing all the games classed as GOTY mean you play a wider variety than others, or that you play just what the media claims are the biggest/most popular?

Just seven, Goldeneye, OoT, The Sims, Halo, HL, God of War (2005) and Baldur's Gate 3.

Bounced off all but two of those.

As is mine, although these days my gaming choices are mostly dictated by what I'm physically capable of playing.

Not sure how some were awarded the title of GOTY though.

Yeah, I'm looking at the likes of the CoDs, Battlefield, Uncharted, Fallout, Mass Effect, Overwatch, ITT and UGG.

I believe that the list is based upon The D.I.C.E. Awards for Game of the Year.

The only questionable choices there for me are Fallout 4 and It Takes Two. Everything else had considerable audience and critical acclaim at the time. Even those two probably did but I definitely remember some grumblings around both.

I'm sure if you looked at the available threads for all of these games you'd see plenty of us going crazy for them.

There’s really only one list we should be using for this. Our own GOTY awards. We’re as legitimate a source as any.

Played all of those. Loved Days Gone but it's no way GotY material.

I would say I've played about half of these GOTY games, but what surprised me is that I feel quite negatively towards many games in the half I haven't played. It's not that I didn't get around to them, it's that I avoided them because they didn't look any good (to me personally).

Does anyone else have that kind of list or am I just, like, unreasonable and intransigent?
