For me it's been ok but not that great.
The easy game of the show has to be Anthem which could be one of the greatest multiplayer games of all time (or it could do a The Division and end up a massive disappointment) and the Xbox One X was shown but they somehow failed to really show why it's needed.
Maybe they'll do something in the next week but they need to show the difference between the Xbox One and the X by having simple side by side comparisons to show people what a £450 console does against the £200 version that plays the same games.

I know I may be odd but Tropico 6 is great news and the fact that consoles are finally getting city builder type games (Cities Skylines as well) is great news as I find it massively relaxing to just stick on a sandbox game with unlimited cash and just build my dream cities.

I'm buying it so that's at least 1 sale.
I'm also going to be mainly using it to play Cities Skylines on a 1080p screen so yeah I'm really going to feel the power of those bleeding edge graphics.

> Your game of E3:

The Crew 2 (PS4) looked like fun. It covers a lot of bases in terms of the differing environments and the vehicle types; there is a lot of potential there but I hope it hasn't bitten off more than it can chew.

> Three other games that you are excited about:

I'm keen on Skyrim (Switch) although I hope that the motion controls are purely optional. The other two... uhm... I will keep an eye on Destiny 2 (PS4) and Need for Speed: Payback (PS4).

> Something that made you go "Wow!":

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle (Switch). I am not a fan of the Rabbids styling and I had expected this game to be pretty bad. But... it looks good  . The strategic, turn-based battling reminded me of aspects from Disgaea and Fire Emblem seved with a cartoon-styled twist! I await some hands-on reports but, at the moment, it's a pleasant surprise.

Being cheeky and selecting two responses, I'll also say that the Ubisoft presentation was terrific - some great titles and a few cool surprises.

> Something that made you go "That's... disappointing":

I feel that both the Microsoft and Sony conferences were just a little underwhelming. There are undoubtably some cool games coming out but the Xbox One X doesn't appear to have many "must buy" titles on the horizon whilst some of the more enticing Sony games seem to be a year away.

> Oh, and I want to say this:

I wish the console manufacturers had some better surprises in terms of "Hey, your can try this out in the (digital store) now!" or "Thanks for watching, you can download this DLC character for free from the (digital store) now!". Microsoft seem to have done a few bits with their Mixer service.... I would like to see better tie-ins on offer for the audiences at home.

The Crew 2 ditching its edgy Fast and Furious vibe in favour of having unadulterared fun, now in boats and planes too!

Assassin's Creed Origins - for all their talk it looks like more of the same with more rpg loot systems.

Pre Mario Odyssey wins everything

> Your game of E3:

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle - this looks ace. Full E3 spectacle with Miyamoto on stage for the reveal, we got to see actual gameplay, and it's coming out this year. I can only imagine the reaction if the game hadn't been previously leaked. What more can you want from a game at E3?

> Three other games that you are excited about:

Monster Hunter World - Full home console Monster Hunter experience. I was not expecting this, and I am hyped.

Days Gone - I love me some apocalypse. I hope there is lots of interplay between zombies and enemy survivors.

Steep - I am a continuing evangelist of Steep, and I am very excited for the DLC expansions dropping at both the end of this month and in December.

> Something that made you go "Wow!":

Beyond Good and Evil 2. Get mad hype.

> Something that made you go "That's... disappointing":

The skeleton enemies and gunplay in Sea of Thieves

> Oh, and I want to say this:

Bring on Nintendo!

Didn't realise it was on until last night when I saw the mega threads were getting bumped.

Blimey - I did not expect that! I know that you weren't a fan of the first one, Trelliz, so this is quite a turnaround!

When I saw the game coverage in the Ubisoft presentation, OR, I knew you'd be delighted about this! I recall that it was your GOTY for 2016 :-).

OrangeRakoon wrote:...> Oh, and I want to say this: Bring on Nintendo!

I am nervous about Nintendo's presentation :fp: . I want them to wow us with a stream of "big name" titles... but I've harboured that desire for a few years now. From 17:00 we'll know which way it's gonna go...

> Your game of E3:
Anthem, above all other games looked ridiculous, visually the best looking game I've seen, pleased it was running Xbox One X.

> Three other games that you are excited about:
Can I have 4? PUBG, Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves and State of decay 2

> Something that made you go "Wow!":
PUBG coming to Xbox THIS YEAR!

> Something that made you go "That's... disappointing":
Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 slipping to 2018, out of all of them I thought Crackdown 3 would slip.
EA's conference was cack.
The Call of Duty WWII mp trailer was an absolute shambles.

> Oh, and I want to say this:
Crackdown 3's cloud gen destruction is still in the game in the ADVERSARIAL MP as it ALWAYS HAS BEEN SINCE IT WAS ANNOUNCED.

I have only watched the MS conference so there isn't much for me to say, but I'd feel left out if I didn't try and join in. ;)

> Your game of E3: Shadow of War - what's not to like about an Australian Orc?

> Three other games that you are excited about: Ori, Crackdown 3, Assassins Creed (I am not that excited about it, but climbing pyramids and the Sphinx will be fun)

> Something that made you go "That's... disappointing": The price of the Xbox One X Super Turbo Edition.

> Oh, and I want to say this: They need to move E3 to London and put the conferences on at a decent time.

I only found out about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds the other day when I saw someone streaming it on YouTube. It appears to be pretty popular!

I was a little unsure about the amount of humour in the preview... but, on reflection, the LOTR / Shadows world does seem to be deadly serious, so the funny bits could be a nice breather :-).

Indeed - I loved the open world and idea behind The Crew but hated its awful story and slightly weird handling. It was a game at odds with itself as seen in the two expansions which pushed it in different directions. I was frustrated as there was a good game in there but it wasn'r allowed to shine. Now they're embracing the fun of open world racing (hopefully) without having to run from the cops every 10 minutes. I'm looking forward to this more than Forza Motorsport 7 which is saying something.

The Shadow of Mordor game was so far away from Tolkien's lore that it doesn't matter at all that an Orc has a funny voice.

After all, how do we know Orcs were not Australian? Have you ever heard a real one talk?

Hobbits come from New Zealand so it's obvious that Orcs are Australian.

This could all change after Nintendo's show, but so far...

I suspect that everyone had thought it was going to be dire... so when it looked to be a pretty interesting turn-based strategy game, that low expectation turned to delight :-).

I'll wait till the Nintendo Direct has finished before answering these questions
