XCOM2 has replaced the original in my top 20 and Divinity Original Sin II is on the brink of joining said list.

There's not really that many current gen games I've actually been able to play, even stuff like RPGs are becoming increasingly harder to play due to the trend towards real-time combat, I also have zero interest in FPSs and battle royale stuff like PUBG and Fortnight.

As much as I love Uncharted 4, pacing - particularly with overly stretched climbing/traversal sections - was an issue, whereas The Lost Legacy flowed a lot better imo. One of my favourite chapters in UC4 was 'The Twelve Towers, so when TLL rolled up, featuring more parts in this same vein (Homecoming and in particular The Western Ghats) and made them larger, more involved and more beautiful than ever, it took precedence alongside 2 and 3 in my top 10.

Breath of the Wild is also my list's new Zelda representative, replacing Twilight Princess.

I imagine my relationship with FM is the same as a junkie's relationship with heroin. Equal parts love and hate, but oh so addictive.

I ready to get hooked on FM again, I just found FM handheld brutally unfair and unrealistic.

I guess I'll do my rough top ten as well, one before this generation and one after:

Super Mario 64
Pokémon Soul Silver
Yakuza (If I have to pick one though, then 2)
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Everybody's Golf World Tour
WarioWare Twisted
Star Wars Knights of the old Republic
Mario Kart 64
Streets of Rage 2
Fallout 3

This generation included (WiiU/Switch also)

Super Mario 64
Pokémon Soul Silver
Yakuza
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Super Mario Odyssey
Everybody's Golf World Tour
WarioWare Twisted
Star Wars Knights of the old Republic
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Wolfenstein: The New Order

It's not to say I don't enjoy lot of games this generation -- far from it! It's been good generation, just I don't feel many have strong impact to make into top ten for me.

On second thoughts, Breath of the Wild doesn't make number 1 and there's no space for Resident Evil 7, but Bloodborne has done enough to win a place...

1. Rez Infinite
2. Sid Meier's Civilization 5
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4. Batman Arkham Asylum
5. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt
6. Sensible World of Soccer
7. Super Monkey Ball
8. Bloodborne
9. OutRun 2
10. Bayonetta

So far, I don't think much this gen has been totally amazing. Although, I still have a lot to play. Here's my (probable) top 10, with this gen's games in bold.

1. The Last Story
2. Xenoblade Chronicles
3. Fire Emblem: Awakening (is 3DS still 'this gen'?)
4. Zelda: Skyward Sword
5. Zelda: Twilight Princess
6. Zelda: Breath of The Wild
7. Zelda: Ocarina of Time
8. Zelda: Wind Waker
9. Professor Layton and Lost Future
10. Minecraft

Yeah, 3DS is still technically this generation. I'd say the Switch is more like a .5 to this current generation, so anything after 2011 counts.

I've been trying for a while now and I can't decide on a definitive top 10 (much less an ordered list), but I do know that there are three games from this generation somewhere in that list.

The Witness
Breath of the Wild
Celeste

The Witness probably takes the top spot and Breath of the Wild is likely near the top as well. Celeste is fantastic, but probably a little lower tier than those two. The rest of the list is made up of some seven titles out of about 15-20 that I can't decide between

The Witness seems to have been a hot topic here in GR over the past couple of weeks! I will have to return to the game at some point. I recall enjoying the first hours of the game but I fear that those early lessons learnt have now been forgotten.

I'm unsure on what my Top Ten actually is, but I feel like Witcher 3, Overwatch, Rocket League and BOTW are all probably in there due to the amount of hours sunk into each of them.

My top ten would look something like this at the moment:

1. Pokemon Gold
2. Rock Band 4
3. Perfect Dark
4. Super Smash Bros. Melee
5. Resident Evil 2
6. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
7. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
8. Mario Kart 64
9. Timesplitters 2
10. Resident Evil 4

So really only Rock Band is troubling the list, but in a big way. There are a few bubbling under - a few more replays of Doom might see it knock on the door, and from the last gen XCOM and The Last of Us are very much in the top twenty. I find nostalgia to be a big factor when I come to make a list like this though.

I've been trying to create a top 10 for a while now, it's too hard! There a couple of games that are dead certs but then I've got a list of about 20-30 that I really struggle to sort into a particular order, they are all amazing and I don't really want to leave any out...

Guess I'll spill the beans at this point as well:

Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Okami
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Max Payne 3
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Batman: Arkham City
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Metroid Prime Trilogy

Yes, I'm treating the Prime trilogy as a single entity. And I have to take back what I said about BotW replacing TP - they're both too distinct.

Another good thread from Jawa, and like his own list Mad Max would find its way into my top ten if I were to put one together. The driving, the combat, the vast wasteland, the exploration, all of it delivers. Technically there are far deeper open world games out there, but Mad Max just clicked with me as a throughly enjoyable single player experience.

I was also considering Doom, but as much as Ive enjoyed playing through it a handful of times I still prefer the look, feel and pacing of Doom 3. So not quite. Maybe Doom Eternal?
