Anything to do with games at all.

That's great, Vermi! I know that you've had an eye on PS5 for a while now... it's gonna be good to see you jump aboard.

Do you have any preference for the digital or disc models?

It'll be the disc version, the main reason being that my internet is so antiquated that my speed simply isn't good enough to download the massive game files needed.

Sadly, even having the disc versions of games doesn’t prevent large downloads needed before you can play

Yeah, unfortunately discs have become download keys, really. Even so, at least they can't take your disc away from you or make the game unavailable.

Until they invent discs that destroy themselves (and your console) after two years.

Mate, you need to try and spend at least some time this year not thinking about elections or you're going to go crazy

What makes you think it's constantly on my mind, all day, every day... :shifty: :slol:

Plot twist: the Switch 2 is the original Switch but download-only. However... it'll have a BASIC BLUE home screen option 8-) .

I think I'd like the Switch 2 to be a "souped up" Switch... but I also harbour a little dream that it could be something a wee bit wilder; perhaps with a feature that could potentially offer "a new way of play". Perhaps some form of 3D could make a comeback!

There's going to be something that sets it apart, like heartbeat sensors in the new controllers. I suspect it won't be anything properly fundamental (like the Wii or DS brought), but I'd be surprised if it was literally just a powered up Switch.

I could see some feature additions like camera, microphone and scrolling wheel shoulder buttons being added. the main difference will be the bump in power plus DLSS features.

It's great to see a few different ideas thrown into the mix, Outrunner! You must have a terrific retro Sega collection.

My core hardware collection is almost complete. Of the stand alone hardware I'm only really missing those I mentioned and the SC-3000. I still have the add-ons to get (both variants of the Mega CD and the 32x). Other than that it's just variants I need to pick up. Most I'll probably skip but I'd like a Multi-Mega, the Nomad and a black Dreamcast. I don't really play them that much these days but I really like the Sega aesthetics in console design so they'll eventually be displayed

Three microphones that the SwitchU uses to triangulate your position in the room when you speak

I certainly would like to see an intriguing new feature, OR; something to freshen things up a bit.

Milner, yes, some new functionality that is integral to play a la DS/3DS is would be a treat.

You have an excellent range of Sega gear, Outrunner! I sure would like to try a Multi-Mega as that looked terrific. I only ever saw one once - in a branch of Dixons - and it was so expensive.

I have the original and revised styles of the Mega CD, and the 32X unit. Getting all of the correct cables and power supplies can be tricky but I believe that new replicas are available nowdays.

Switch 2 on launch (dependant on availability). But I'm not desperate for Nintendo to release a new console this year. Nintendo had one of their best years last year and continue to squeeze great performance so there's clearly life in the machine. Rather than the ageing hardware an eventual successor would be good because the Switch has had most of the big games and a new console would restart the cycle for the IPs that generally only get one game per generation.

I do wonder what kind of launch games the Switch 2 will get. I maintain that the two game N64 entry was the best launch ever because one of those games was Mario 64. You just need one great exclusive! By extension, the Switch had a great launch for having BotW (practically an exclusive as far as most people were concerned). But whilst it had a fantastic launch year, other than Zelda it had a very sparse day one spread of games, especially considering Nintendo wound Wii U support right down and put all their eggs in the Switch basket.

Switch 2 is understandably very unlikely to get a BotW level game on launch. But will we even get a big exclusive? What? Switch to Switch 2 is a very different scenario from Wii U to Switch in terms of user base and what feels like an exclusive. I'm not desperate for Switch reign to end, but when the Switch 2 does come I want clear definition of gens and exclusives tailored to the Switch 2.

Might pick up the new Xbox controller if it's released but depends on its extra features.

There's a very slight chance I may grab a Switch 2 but that's it for this year.

I'm interested in PS5 pro and will keep an eye on the news but won't be buying it.

Switch 2 is a no-brainer at launch. I've also got the urge to build a new keyboard at some point in the next few months.
