The journey continues. Picked up a few rifles and they're great for duffing up ghouls and mutants. I'm getting back into the swing of using VATS... such a good targeting system.

I'd forgotten how beautifully decayed and desolate the game is. Even the lighting looks good; the way it changes the shades and shadows over the course of a day is excellent. Those late-evening yellows and greys of damaged buildings are almost lovely. And all this on an Xbox 360!

I love that you're using spoilers for an old game. Bless your heart

It reminds me of the time in Super Mario Bros where the princess was in another castle.

 . I don’t want to muck up the game for folk who have somehow made bad life decisions and not played Fallout 3. I think that one or two GRcadians are re-visiting the game via Xbox OX backwards compatibility, too.

I've never played it. Not played any of them, I have 4 on a shelf to play at some point.

That said I'm cool with no spoilers as spoilers never really bother me for games as I play them so much after and tend to use YouTube a fair bit for getting through stuff.

Urge to reinstall fallout 3 and have monster resolution plus mods rising... if only for the intro and a trip to megaton.

I must admit I'd love to play it again now, shame I sold the 360 the other month :(

Might have to play FO4 instead.

My journey could be influencing other GRcadians to step into the wasteland? :o .

Man, these feral ghouls are fast. I creep around with my finger hovering over the VATS button!

Top tip..

Tapping the VATS button will let you know if there are enemies in that particular direction.

I don't mean the zooming in bit, but if you tap it and you pip boy makes a "tick" noise, the way ahead is clear.
If there's no "tick" noise then there are enemies in that direction.

Or it's the other way around, I dunno, you'll figure it out. (RIP JAWAS)

I think I know what you mean, Lewis - I do sometime tap the VATS button if I think baddies are in the area because it’ll automatically pick them out if they’re close by. I didn’t realise the sound aspect, though... will investigate this later. Thanks, man!

I didn't get a chance to play during the week but I'm back into this now. I'm in DC and I have just toured the Museum of History... and so met the ghouls in the Underworld. I let Carol know that Gob was (kinda) okay  .

After retrieving the space dish from the Museum of Technology, Galaxy News Radio is broadcasting loud and clear 8-) . Had to by-pass and run away from a few super mutants, though :shifty: .

I remember being teirrifed the first time I had to go down into the sewers with all those feral ghouls, that scratchy throaty noise they made :dread:

I must admit that when I play at night I only play for a little while as things can be a bit spooky... :shifty: :fp: .

Right, with Galaxy News Radio booming out, the next part of the adventure is underway - I am off to Rivet City to try and speak with Doctor Li. Time to get ship-shape!

Oh boy, I'd forgotten just what a cool place Rivet City is. Once you have had a wander around the ship and spoken to the residents, there are so many quests to choose from! I think I'm gonna look for the replicated man...

I think I was playing for about 3 weeks before I got to rivet city. Kept wandering around and getting distracted looting places

Yeah, I have been following the "main track" of the campaign pretty tightly so far but now, with a raft of side-quests to look at, this feels like the time to step off the beaten path.

Although I would place the game as my all-time favourite (single player) title, I hadn't loaded it up in about five years and I must confess that I had a small concern that it wouldn't match up to my memories of it. I needn't have worried... it's still brilliant  .

Jawa your adventures are making me want to start a new file on F3 but I just have so many games to complete. I loved the quest involving the vampires, can’t remember the name of it but they seemed like a decent group of people.

Fallout 3 is the only Fallout game I've played. Reading through this has reminded me of a lot of characters and missions that I'd forgotten about. Brought back some good memories. I remember buying all of the DLC too, almost all of which was excellent from what I recall. Superb game.

God, Rivet City was so much better than Diamond City. The former really felt like a proper place where people lived and worked.
