In amongst all the chat about PlayStation Move and GDC was this, a list of newly registered domains referring to something called “PlayStation Plus”. There’s no information on what PlayStation Plus could be, but perhaps it’s the PSN Premium service that’s been rumoured for some time now.

They’re all registered to the usual “SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT INC.” organisation, and registered using a Japanese registration company. Naturally, we can’t verify that the above were registered for Sony, but a quick Google proved fairly fruitless. Hey, it might even have been a name for Move…

Week of GDC he mentioned this name as the name for the premium service :o

Probably means earlier demos and an emagazine plus exclusive dlc for subscribers. I am willing to pay around £30 a year if the content is worth it, but the PSN needs to be significantly bolstered, especially when you compare it to the content available on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Cool. I get not to pay for stuff I don't want.

Excellent.

I wouldn't say the content on Live is any better in the slightest, both have exellent games. However the functionality or Live is incredible. Give PSN easier, direct to game invites etc like Live does and i'll pay a fee.

Just for the Sky App its worth £28 or so every year, but theres so much more including some last gen downloads and tons of features and videos that seem to be updated every few days!

Any theories as to what this will offer, and whether it will mean taking things away from the free service? (In the same way that Microsoft ended up restricting early demo access to Silver users on Live to "add value" to Gold...)

They have said what is free now will always remain free. Like I said before I believe this will tiered differently to include music/movies/TV/games download access. So you pay a subscription to download X number of titles per month. Also cloud storage is meant to be part of the service too.

If we could store our save data on a server that would be really awesome!

Protected save data uploaded to server would be a huge bonus.

That kind of things sounds like actual value.

They sent out a survey and it all pointed to that, cloud storage, video streaming(which could be Love Film as that was called out in the survey) and party chat across games. I'd pay £60 a year for that full package as I can use it on my PC, PS3 and PSP.

I'm surprised this is the first time we've had a thread with this title.
