How upfront are John Lewis about the level of service you'd be getting if you took out a contract with them? I've had Vodafone and Sky ring me since Christmas offering 24 meg broadband but once I tell them to test the line they quickly change their tune. If I hadn't asked them to check the line I'm sure both would signed me up for 24 meg packages even though my phoneline is basically worthless as a broadband connection. If John Lewis are honest about the speeds you'd get when subscribing to them that might explain their high rating.

The real question is, who did they ask?

Dunno, but I think we should ask the party leaders and choose our next Prime Minister based on their answers.

And EE is now owned by BT... who also own Plusnet as well.

They're bloody expensive! You're looking at about £100+.

I've just resorted to plugging the PS4 & computer directly in to Sky's hub using a flat Ethernet cable. It's not that the WiFi isn't strong enough (it manages about 20Mbps of the 38), it's that the signal (or whatever you call it) fluctuates like a yo-yo, making direct streaming of HD hopeless - even in the same room. It doesn't support ac either, but then neither does the PS4.

Depends what you want, but I bought a fairly decent TP-Link router with Gigabit ports in it for under £40, granted its only 802.11n rather than anything newer, but it meets my needs.

Even if you do want a fancy router with 802.11ac multiple band wireless for over £100, you are paying BT that much extra a month it fairly quickly becomes cheaper to buy the thing up front and then pay less for a better ISP anyway.

Interesting regarding Vodafone UK (C&W, THUS, Demon Internet): 129,000 . I work for Vodafone , formerly C&W and we don't supply individual lines for seperate customers as in home users but just for businesses. At least as far as i am aware.

Same. They get a lot of stick but I've always had good dealings with them whenever I've spoken to their contact centre. Even been re-imbursed for a couple of things without any hassle.

Back in business after a lengthy absence from gaming and Grcade.
Recently got myself a PS4 with FIFA15, TLOU, DriveClub and MW:AW.
