With magic long since lost to England, two men are destined to bring it back; the reclusive Mr Norrell and daring novice Jonathan Strange. So begins a dangerous battle between two great minds.

7 episode series.

I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to say that Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is the finest new drama that’s been on our screens this decade. In fact, if the first two episodes are anything to go by, it could go down as one of the best this century.

I've been waiting ages for this - bloody loved the book. Some terrific casting too so I'm confident this will be as good as the blurb says.

I've never heard of the books but this definitely sounds well worth a watch.

People who write like this should be automatically fired by their editor.

The show was OK, nothing spectacular in the slightest. Eddy Marsden is great as always but felt it lacked punch.

I find the series boring. The first two episodes have been nothing but disappointment. The story seems uninspired, the actors disinterested and the whole thing just seems to fall flat. Looks marvellous, mind.

I'm enjoying this so far. Really liked the scenes with Strange Merlin at war in the latest episode.

Maybe the best episode yet. Especially liked the war sections

I'm enjoying it and I'd describe it as anything other than 'uninspired', but it does seem to me to be pretty disjointed, don't know if the book is like that or its just the way its been adapted.

Really enjoyed the episode last night, but with only one episode left to air I'm not sure things will be tied up satisfactorily next week. Bought the book so will give that a read as well.

Enjoyed the finale quite a lot, though it did seem to end rather abruptly. I'm quite interested to see if there's any more closure in the actual book or if that's the ending also.
