PostJunk Email

For the past week or so I've suddenly started receiving an incredible amount of junk email to my hotmail account from so many different places. Is there anything I can use to stop this? Selecting the "ignore" option doesn't seem to be helping and what is the most likely cause for the junk? I recently used notonthehighstreet for the first time but other than that I've only been visiting my usual websites so I can only think that they're to blame?

Click on ALL the links.

No seriously though, just delete it and it'll stop eventually.

What you shouldn't do is try to unsubscribe. I suspect this is used to confirm whether you are a valid e-mail account. It is painful, but as Qikz said, it will stop eventually.

Yes?

Start setting up filters on your email account.

on hotmail it is under 'Sweep' I think?

I've got ones set up to delete anything with the word "pharmacy", "congratulations", "win", or "WON" in the subject or body.

Usually I need to check the deleted mail items as some 'good' one get fired in to the bin (I think it is the 'win' that is causing problems), but you can always make exemptions for those senders.

-seems to work quite well but it needs tweaking.

This post is exempt from the No Context Thread.
