Jurassic Park 4 has new writers, is definitely happening

"We're back mummy strawberry floaters!"

After lurking in the bushes of limbo for years, occasionally leaping out with tales of genetically modified soldier dinos and cities overrun, word on Jurassic Park 4 seemed destined to stay as rumour. But then last year, shortly before Comic-Con, word emerged that head warden Steven Spielberg was developing other ideas for the fourth trip to Isla Nubla and its environs with Mark Protosevich. At the event itself last July, Spielberg confirmed that they were working on stories. Fast-forward to today, and Deadline reports that Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes writing team Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are aboard to craft the script.

Given their experiences with genetically tinkered creatures gone wild, they seem like a good call, especially since they were able to inject so much real feeling into what could have been your average ape adventure.

Details are naturally scarce, with Spielberg and co-producer Kathleen Kennedy guarding information like a T-Rex protecting its young. We do know, however, that the man who brought us the first two movies is handing over the megaphone to someone else, as he did with Joe Johnston and Jurassic Park 3.

For now, the project remains snuffling in the development undergrowth, but this is another real sign of life. If you’re craving actual dino footage, however, you’ll have to wait until the original movie arrives back in cinemas with a 3D conversion on July 19, 2013 in the States and possibly the same day here.

We haven't had dinosaurs on the big screen for awhile and the writers have atleast some pedigree (even though POTA was a bit overrated) so yeah, why not

3 wasn't that bad, it wasn't awesome but it wasn't bad, now there has been some time it could be pretty good.

I hope they get Damon Lendelof involved.

I wish they did a really violent one. Also, if this one has an annoying little kid outsmarting or beating up dinosaurs I will vomit.

Lost World was ruined because that annoying girl doing flips and beating up raptors. I so badly wanted them to slice her up

2 was definitely worse than 3. It was the acting that let the latter down: pretty much every person in it is annoying as strawberry float. And that ending... Still better than Jurassic Park 2: Like Godzilla But We Couldn't Get The Licence.

I quite liked JP2. All are complete gooseberry fool compared to JP though which is still amazing.

I liked the bit in Jurassic Park 2 where the girl killed the velociraptors using gymnastics.

The problem with The Lost World was the big strawberry floating plot hole at the end where everyone on the boat was torn up but the T-Rex was still locked up.

Would've been better if it was a pack of Raptors having a rampage through the city.

I thought part 3 wasn't too bad. A bit of throwaway fun and it also gave William H. Macy more of a leading role :wub:

Interested to see what they do with part 4 but even if it's poo, I'll always have the first film.

I love Jurassic Park, think 2 is a very average movie and can hardly remember anything about 3.

I would welcome a 4th, but only if real effort is put into the script and they can craft a movie that rivals the first.

Or if they just give it to Sy-Fy and they make a T-Rex fly or something.
