Two chapters in and I'm really liking this. Definite Team Ico/Journey/Abzu/RiME vibes.

Better not be like Abzu man.

I mean I wasn't overly keen on Rime, but as a bucket for a certain kind of game, it's in there!

It's good, but there's just a little bit of jank that holds it back for me. I've had to 'reload my last checkpoint' twice now.

Might wait a month to see if it gets patched up. Will certainly be playing it before the year is out though.

Hmm, yeah. The PC Gamepass version is missing some basic features like DLSS that are in the Steam version (and were therefore in the demo) so it’s poor form that they’ve launched it in this state. Even the PS5 version reportedly does nothing with the DualSense haptics, which you’d assume was an absolute given.

One for the Christmas break for me instead of right now. Maybe they can bring it up to standard by then, or else I could find it on sale for Steam.

Don't let me put you off! It's very slight - I got stuck on geometry a couple of times, but my bigger problem is the camera gets stuck on stuff too - it resolves itself, but the stutter is quite jarring for me and limits the time I can play the game without getting motion sickness.

I've only noticed a couple of things: weird collisions if abseiling down to clearly not where you're meant to go (fair enough), and a juddering camera when squeezing through a couple of narrow gaps (something I've had enough of in games in general). Can't say the lack of PS5 haptics even crossed my mind to be honest!

The £20 launch set my expectations on polish/scope I think.

Chapter three. Enjoying!

The notes are rubbish mainly because I think they're rubbish in every game ever (except Outer Wilds but I think that's a bit different). And some of the music and style is a little bit Earnest Indie Game Journey Through A Forgotten World etc etc.

But I'm liking and I also like how it's not bugging me when I'm trying to just observe the environment and work things out. Satisfying!

Just got to chapter 3. Really enjoying this and the HDR colours are just beautiful. Also I like how there are lots of little hidden paths and the early collectibles are sometimes in plain sight but hard to get to. There was a cairn sat out on a little outcrop and I just couldn't work out how to get to it, which I liked. Too often this type of game is so linear that the collectibles are always on an obvious double back from the clear route forward.

Fell asleep near the start last night. No fault of the game. I took a hard knock to the head earlier in the day and nothing feels right.

NHS advice seems to be that I have to wait a bit to see if I feel OK. Only certain symptoms justify emergency treatment (like fluid leaks). But I’m aware of what happened to Gary Rhodes.
