I've had a few World Records on DiRT and MS2. I also was pretty damn good at MGS2 Substance.

I was once as high as 7th in the world for Virtua Tennis 3 and had the best player in the world at match point on one occasion. Besides that, I'm gooseberry fool at most games simply because I don't play them enough to get better.

I assumed you were referring to Metal Slug 2.

I'll kick all your arses with a sniper rifle in Halo 3.

So what if I'm always a candidate for the wooden spoon on Motorstorm Monday :shifty:

I used to think I was great at every game, then some b*****d invented online leaderboards!

I would say I'm fairly good at games, but it's hard to judge these days since games in general seem to be getting easier. Some of my top achievements this generation for the 360 have been:

Halo: Level 50
Left 4 Dead: Nothing Special
The Orange Box (Portal): Gold on every challenge
Call of Duty 2: Veteran
Call of Duty 4: Veteran

I'm a bit of an achievement whore, so it's nice when you get an achievement that took skill, rather than persistence. x

Edit:

Based on extensive viewing of the leaderboards, I'd put myself in the UK's top 5 on Rock Band's vocals, but that's easily the best I've ever been at a game. I'm pretty good at arcade racers, I broke the top 1000 briefly in both Burnout 3 and 4. Other than that I'm good at Dead Rising - I got the Transmissionary achievement. That's about it, tbh.

When I played games a little more intensely I played for records, fastest time, high scores, etc. I still have world records in a bunch of games (Burnout 3, Resi 4, Super Monkey Ball 2 for example) but I'd say the toughest thing I ever managed was all 66 platinums in TimeSplitters 2. I've also done a few speed runs and for a short period held the world record for RE4.

As for pure skill, this would be the most incredible feat I've seen. Anyone who has played Super Monkey Ball will remember this level and how difficult the .1 wire is.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Good at some games, rubbish at others. I think rythm games are some of the most difficult around but there's people who can do them, somehow. Yahtzee is right to call them freaks. I don't know how they do it. I can do all the fast button stuff in Tony Hawks cos I'm in control. Have a table that's coming at me at super quick speed with all these buttons i have to press and my brain can't handle it. It's also no fun.

Good at Tony Hawk's, finished Metroid Prime on hard...that's about it really. Good at Advance Wars as well, nearly 999 scores on all war room missions. Good at Goldeneye, finished everything on that - all the cheats. I'm good at all my favourite games, really. Except Halo, did that on Legendary but I guess it isn't hard, it's more about patience.

*zooms down thread*..oh, no i don't have world records or anything. I did think my 4.5 million score on Tony Hawks 2 hanger level was good, but it was not. Someone got about 8 million or something, doing a wall ride then 900. Never thought of that.

I'd say you're pretty useful at Gears too. Much better than Kev anyway (who isn't?). ;)

Let me get this straight. You think you are good at aiming a weapon. In a game that aims automatically for you.
Yeah, ok.

Ah, yes, Tony Hawk's. The one series of games I am competent at. Except maybe the Smackdown games.

Yeah, ok.

But the sniper rifle has no auto aim, so your point is void. x

I can be pretty handy at fighting and shooting games. Not the more realistic shooting and fighting games though, only the fun, batshit insane ones. Virtua Fighter and COD4, next to useless. Tekken and Timesplitters, nigh on unstoppable (but that's against the people I have played against, so pretty much some people I went to school with and the odd relative).

That's a bold statement, since Halopedia lists the sniper rifle as having 1 degree of auto aim and 4 degrees of magnetism, with the autoaim effect working within roughly 250 feet of your target, and the magnetism effect working within roughly 125 feet of your target.

Do you have a more reliable source which can back up your side of the argument?

Wow. I shall retract my statement then, I didn't think it did. The auto aim is so minimal though that you don't notice it at all, or at least I don't. It would be interesting to see what it's like with it turned off though. x

My friend has a fantastic way to abuse this autoaim he taught me. Apparently it is called "sweep-sniping".

Basically, you sweep your aimer quickly over the target, far quicker than you would normally, then you slam the trigger as it passes over the enemy. Headshot 90% of the time.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I used to be pretty good at most games but over the past few years my skill has declined somewhat, partly due to my worsening disability and partly due to playing less action oriented games (I mostly play RPGs, Puzzlers and strategy/RTS games these days).

I still have my Tetris skills though.
