Let me get this straight. You think you are good at aiming a weapon. In a game that aims automatically for you.
Yeah, ok.

But the sniper rifle has no auto aim, so your point is void. x

That's a bold statement, since Halopedia lists the sniper rifle as having 1 degree of auto aim and 4 degrees of magnetism, with the autoaim effect working within roughly 250 feet of your target, and the magnetism effect working within roughly 125 feet of your target.

Do you have a more reliable source which can back up your side of the argument?

Wow. I shall retract my statement then, I didn't think it did. The auto aim is so minimal though that you don't notice it at all, or at least I don't. It would be interesting to see what it's like with it turned off though. x

My friend has a fantastic way to abuse this autoaim he taught me. Apparently it is called "sweep-sniping".

Basically, you sweep your aimer quickly over the target, far quicker than you would normally, then you slam the trigger as it passes over the enemy. Headshot 90% of the time.

I used to be pretty good at most games but over the past few years my skill has declined somewhat, partly due to my worsening disability and partly due to playing less action oriented games (I mostly play RPGs, Puzzlers and strategy/RTS games these days).

I still have my Tetris skills though.

I'm pretty rubbish, just don't have the time to invest to get good at a specific game.

I am only a level 18 or something on COD4 and every lobby now seems to have at least 3 gold cosses a game and I still usually beat 2 of them though. How people can play COD4 for long enough to actually get a 10th prestige but still be so rubbish is very confusing.

I think I've got worse at gaming since getting older.

I'm good enough to hold my own (and win depending the game) when playing with friends. But I know I'm not brilliant at anything in particular.

Being a semi-professional game guide producer (hopefully turning pro in a few months if all goes to plan), I reckon I'm still pretty damn good at most games. Not a dedicated pro at any game in particular (although I do hold the current X360 World Record for COD4, and I'm still good at Metroid Prime), I'm certainly not as competitive as I was when I entered N64 Mags "I'm The Best!" all the time (and came 2nd in their multi-player extravaganza), but for the most part I can still hold my own. :D

Producing a guide for a brand new game can really push your abilities though, as you HAVE to find certain strategies or items before the game has been released, making it very tough with certain games. I just don't have the time these days to spend so much on one particular game. I wish I did and become almost pro-like on that, but I get more variety now than I did before. (Which is nice :) ).

What record is that? Completion time?

I saw your video for the level on the plane, and it looked pretty ridiculous, to be fair. :o

I think the Motorstorm Monday crowd could vouch for my shitness, I just don't have the reflexes I once had.

I've always been the 'Jack of all trades, master of none' kinda gamer, so it's nothing I worry about. I just enjoy myself whether I'm getting buried or not!

We get it: the P.C. is wonderful and playing a first person shooter with a mouse is bestest thing in the whole wide world ever and ever.

Don't you ever get bored of talking the same crap over and over again?

I was gonna post something similar. Every strawberry floating post is basically "PC IS SUPERIOR LOL".

What an annoying little tit.

This be the link you'd need ;)

Mine is the tables league for individual levels. A guy recently beat my overall time on the mission mode on the PC, but as mine used the Arcade mode in the game, my times still stand up there. :D

I'm most proud of getting 1000g on cod4, purely because that mile high club achievement is the hardest thing I have ever completed in a game ever. It took me about 8 hours to get all in all, longer than I spend with some games in total! Think I'm up to about 7th prestige now on the multiplayer and hoping to gold cross it before modern warfare 2 comes out.

Pretty average at everything else though. Certainly don't have the time to practice enough to get world leading at anything really.

Don't name call, it's childish, and auto-aim was a relevant point in a thread about video game skill.

LittleBigPlanet

Play: Beat every level in the game without dying, with the exception of levels that only end when you die.

EDIT: Actually, that's not the trickiest Trophy I have. It takes ages and needs loads of concentration, which is what makes it seem harder, but these have required more skill:

Super Stardust HD

Late Boomer: Bomber - Get 15 bombs
Shock and Awe: Endless - Destroy 10 Nukes

WipEout HD

Own the Zone: Get 20 consecutive perfect zones in a single Zone Mode event.
Airbraker: Reach Zone 50 (Subsonic) in Zone Mode on any track using only airbrakes and sideshift. Motion sensor controls must be turned off.

On the thought of gaming achievements, did anyone ever mangage to perform a 1080 on 1080 Snowboarding on the N64? I did a few 720s but could never pull off the big 'un. It was always something I wanted to do but could never manage it. :(

Just thought of another: I completed the nigh-on impossible F-Zero GX Story Mode on the hardest difficulty level! :D Just wouldn't have the patience for it these days.

Not getting killed in a online multiplayer game of CoD: MW. I thought you needed skill to get a big points score after a game ended, turns out all you need is the basic light machine gun and a li'l spary n' pray.
