I buy very, very little music but the new Killers album is out next month and I suspect I won't be able to copy it to my hard drive.

I usually download it, then if I like it, I'll buy it (eventually), if I think it's ok, I'll probably keep it but won't listen to it, and if it's crap it gets deleted.

What do you mean you suspect you won't be able to copy it to your hard drive?

I buy CDs, too many in fact...

http://rateyourmusic.com/collection/Craig_M/recent/

Slowed down now but there was a point where I was stupid enough to buy one or two every other day.

I ain't buying no more Keane, that's for sure.

I prefer the Kaiser Chiefs' new album, mind, which NME inexplicably gave 5/10 even though it's better than their debut (which got 9/10).

If the NME gave Kaiser's new album 5/10 it must be god-awful bad.

Not that I'd listen to it anyway.

This.

Only girls like the Kaiser Cheifs and their utterly mind numbing mediocrity, I thought.

Sorry I should have been clearer about what I was getting at. I want to get the cd but some of them have write protection and won't even run on a computer so I can't then copy it onto my mp3 player.

I love the album, although I don't think it's as much of a 'new direction' as some might lead you to believe.

I think my favourite is 'Black Burning Heart', although 'Lovers Are Losing' has a massive chorus.

I loved it enough to spend £70 on tickets to see them at the 02 next year anyway :D

Ah, yeah I've heard of those.

Never had a problem with any of the other Killers CDs.

Cool, thanks man, truth be told I haven't tried the other Killers CD's on my laptop yet, they've hardly left my hi-fi. ;)

The last CD I bought, The Eraser by Thom Yorke, I don't think I'll ever actually use the CD (unless I can begin to tell the difference between a decent MP3 and lossless) . All my audio is hooked up to my PC anyway.

I've never encountered a music CD that has protection that can't be bypassed. Those old Sony BMG ones were notorious for it, but even then I could still rip Kasabian's debut without using the crappy rootkit thing.

One album I defintely remember not being able to run on PC was Royksopp's second album, the understanding.
I was rightly narked with it at the time as I'd just gotten an mp3 player for the first time and their first album hadn't caused any trouble at all.
