I couldn't give less of a gooseberry fool. The only thing I talk about probably too much is what I'm doing in business, so I suppose I brag that I own a business, but if I don't talk about that, I'm failing at basic marketing and most people ask anyway because they like to hear about trying to succeed against the odds even if they'd never dream of doing it themselves.

And usually it's about cost efficiencies so I spend very little money on myself indeed, it's about creating something apart from myself that can support myself, to do that you have to give up a lot. I'd rather have that than the best supercar in the world right now - but eventually, there's a slim chance I will be able to afford one.

I read that BBC household debt article the other day and felt proud of myself for not having any, excluding the mortgage.

Then I saw that student loans were included, in which case we are actually way above the average, at something like £40,000  :dread:.

For FFS sake, I bloody hate that student debt, destined to eat away at my wages every month for the next couple of decades.

Ha, in your face, I've never had to pay back a penny of my student loan....oh.

Being Scottish/studying in Scotland saved me regarding debt. Although I'm currently living off ~£300 a month so am in no position to brag.

I sometimes wish I claimed dual nationality with Scotland so I could get free fees.

I was without debt, but I have a mortgage starting up soon, so that went out the window.

Yer man from the mortgage place was legit shocked I had nothing in terms of money owed.

I don't really have any debt, but I shopped at Aldi the other day and was livid when the neighbours saw me carrying in the Aldi branded bags.

I went and bought some loo roll from Waitrose and stood outside with the bag until they clocked me.

Crisis averted.

I started and finished my OU degree at just the right time, I got to pay for each module as I went along and was under the old fee system rather than the thousands per module that it would cost now. :dread:

Student loan isn't real debt

My degree can't get repossessed, and I'll never fail to meet a repayment

This is i agree with, i always thought of it as more of an investment to help you in a career path.

My housemate calls it a graduate tax, which is kind of more accurate to how it works.

Don't underestimate the banks. They will find a way to mindwipe the information from you somehow and force you to pay them back.
They are just that evil.

Credit cards are not real debt.

The luxury holidays I have been on can't get repossessed.

They needn't bother, I'm doing a pretty good job of forgetting it all already anyway

No, because the repayments come off of the other credit card.

Checkmate. 8-)

I agree with you to an extent but it is not right to pretend student loans are not "real debt". They are a different type of debt to a mortgage, credit card or loan, but they are still debt.

Rookie error, carry the Waitrose bags with you to Aldi.

On the other hand I will now feel obliged to laugh and mock those people who have a standard PS4 as opposed to the mighty PS4 Pro.

That will be short lived. In 20 years the classic will be worth 20 million where as the Pro will be worth only £18.50.

That's fine with me as I have both!
