PostKing of Kong - a Fistful of Quarters

Just watched this, anyone else seen it? It's a docu-drama about a two guys competing for the Donkey Kong world record, I think all gamers should make a point of watching it, it really is a heartwarming underdog story. If 8Mile is Rocky with rap, then this is Rocky with videogames.

It's only a fiver at HMV and Play and comes highly recommended.

I've been meaning to see this for a while now. Just ordered it on play.com, thanks for the link! :)

I hear it does play with the truth a bit though (Billy Mitchell is apparently portrayed as more 'evil' than he actually was). That doesn't bother me much, as long as the film is entertaining, but it's worth noting.

He is portrayed as being a bit of a dick, but obviously I don't know him so it could be entirely accurate.

I watched it on Sky Arts over the Christmas period, I would recommend, if you have Sky, to keep an eye out for it, rather than buying it. There is little replay value in it.

Good watch, but more from a people watching perspective rather than any insight into the Games industry.

There's even a scene showing him grooming it.

It's like watching Satan sharpening his horns.

I watched this a few months ago and loved it. Anything interesting on the extras?

I had a read up on the two guys after watching it and found out that........(this spoiler is even for those that have seen it)

....not long after shooting, Billy Mitchell beat Steve Wiebe's high score on Donkey Kong in a live environment. Poor Steve :(

Yeah it's in the special features. :(

I've not watched all the features yet, there's extra interviews and commentaries which should be interesting.

My mate showed me this a while ago, we both decided that Billy Mtchell was portrayed like a dark lord sitting in his lair waiting for his minions to bring news of the challenger.

Seen it a few times and i'd watch it a few times more.

Excellent film and well worth the money i spent on it (20 bloooooming quid). I think Billy is portrayed a bit unfairly through out as alot of people have mentioned on other sites. But Steve's treatment is out of hand at times from both Billy and Twin Galaxies.

Some hillarious moments and it will have you cheering on Steve all the time... what a lovely guy he is.

I really enjoyed this, I received it from a friend at Christmas. Well worth a watch.

BTW, I was poking through the old Major Nelson podcasts the other day and stumbled across an interview with Billy Mitchell (though it's more focused on his Pac-Man record than the Donkey Kong stuff). It's over here:

Cool, thanks. Just ordered it from HMV. Out of stock on Play, plus you get better Quidco rates through HMV (probably by a whole 2p or something!). :)

Wow, really good film - Right next to The Wrestler for film of the year (that i've only seen this year lol)

However, I really wish someone would set light to Billy's hair, what a prick

I loved this film. It was really enjoyable.

Billy came across as a complete tosser though. I don't know whether the film made it appear that way, but it was entertaining, nonetheless .

It was going to be just a documentary, but after a bit of filming the director noticed the level of rivalry that they had and so turned it into more of a drama, hence the reason why Billy Mitchell seems like a total knob, when he's not nearly that bad. Saw that in an interview.
