I quite like the look of this, but managing your hunger, wounds and fatigue aren't really my idea of fun :(

Got this yesterday and played through the first few quests. So far I'm really impressed. Not seen any bugs yet, the story is believable and gritty with good characters and the gameplay is great, especially the combat.

You have to play it slightly differently than say Skyrim as you will die otherwise, hard to explain without giving spoilers but I mean it in a good way and once it clicks it's great.

Looks lovely on the One X too.

Nice suprise game as hadn't got it on my radar much before reading this thread.

Clearly not a Sims player.

It'd be great if they patched in a need to empty your bowels and bladder periodically, too. :shifty:

I'd hold off buying this and wait 6 months for a patch.

The fiancee and i both have copies and have been playing in the same room on two TVs. My game has constantly had visual glitches with low Res textures, buildings not properly loading and lots of other random things not working properly, and hard crashes every few hours. I've spent a lot of today closing and restarting the game.

She hasn't had as many bugs, a few crashes, until now at least with the Hans capon following glitch making the game basically unplayable for her as this character follows you everywhere interrupting sleep and dialogue and being super annoying and creepy like the movie It Follows.

Only potential fix is reloading a save from 8 hours ago or waiting for more patches.

Too bad really, there is a great game hidden under all of these problems

I really want to like this. But at the moment the performance is just too poor.

It's also very clunky to do simple take on the pc version, although I'm sure I can get used to that.

Gtx1080, 16gb ram, quad core and I'm getting an average of 40fps with medium settings @ 1440p. Can dip down into the 20s in villages.

Holy sh*t you're right! How utterly horrifying that this is happening in 2018.

I can't remember anyone other than white humans being in The Witcher 3, I do wonder a tiny tiny bit that if one of the Witcher 3's designers was openly racist that it would be bigger story.

I used to be in a band with a polish drummer, he was brilliant and a really nice guy. Trouble was his English was very poor.

Then the trouble was as his English slowly improved I started to get the feeling that maybe just maybe he was a Holocaust denying anti-Semitic racist bellend.

Alas, things came to a head when he shouted some guy at an open mic night down for singing "If I Were A Rich Man" claiming it was "Jewish propaganda".

None of which has anything to do with what I'm sure is a very fine simulation of medieval central Bohemia that I shall never play.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I haven't been posting about this game cos I was stuck behind a ridiculous, almost game breaking design decision from the devs. Basically, a couple of hours into the game you have to leave a castle but to do so you need to go in disguise as a guard. So to do this you have to use a lock pick on a chest (one which says it's VERY EASY to lock pick). This represents a couple of challenges, not least where to get one. I found a guy selling some lock picks but then didn't have the money so had sell most of my own stuff to get one.

Now to get the stuff from the chest I need to get into the room unseen but for no apparent reason guards would walk in to this one room, stand there and leave...almost constantly, if they picked up a weapon or dropped off one or something it'd be great but for them to randomly walk in, stand and leave breaks the immersion.

I used a 'save schnapps' outside the room and because the process of lock picking is so ridiculously broken, (you need zen like abilities to get it to work and even then you can get caught or the lock pick just breaks randomly) It took me about 15 attempts, that's 15 reloads and sometimes 5-10mins just to get into the room unnoticed.

I finally got out and through trial and error (and more reloads) got to the place I needed to be and now I'm FINALLY at the start of the game proper. The first 2-3hrs of this are so awfully done I'm surprised anyone got past them. They need to re-do the start asap.

I'll report back how the actual game is going forward.

Picking that chest is something of a nightmare, yes :lol: I also ended up replaying that section several times, but I don't think I had quite as much trouble as you. Guess it's down to luck.

I think the opening in general is excellent though. If you replay the start, in the village, there are so many different quests paths and optional routes through. I replayed that broadly three times (because learning the game's mechanics is /tough/) and it played out very differently every time.

I still haven't gone back to this so you're basically now at the point I got to where the game opens up proper. I explored the area around the castle then headed back to the home village, where I discovered how difficult the combat really is.

I didn't enjoy the opening at all, the cut scenes are disjointed and badly paced and in one instance my char was sitting in mid air for it's entirety.

I'm hoping the game proper will be good as some reviews loved it.
