This is a much better game than Captain Toad. Shame that no one seems bothered with it.

Each world throws great new ideas at you. I'm up to 5-3 at the moment.

Normally I would have been straight in for a new Nintendo game, Harry, but this has arrived in a period where quite a lot of other stuff will be arriving... and something had to give.

I hope to pick it up if it drops in price - it does look pretty good and, for me, I'm okay with playing on the Gamepad rather than the TV screen.

Yeah, it's pretty good. Not sure what I like better, this or Toad.

The 4th world was my favourite so far. The auto scrolling bits in the sky were awesome. People were saying this game is easy but I'm not so sure. It's the same as a few other Kirby games, superficially easy, hard whenever you strive for all collectables/gold medals. The challenge mode is pretty tough in places.

Oh and it doesn't really bother me about the game being played on the gamepad predominately. It still looks fantastic on the smaller screen.

Well, this is just simply fantastic. From the start of intro, you're instantly sucked into this plasticine world. Nintendo have done such a good job with the effect that I hope it's the look for Kirby going forward. Just finished world 2, while not challenging, there's enough mechanics to each level that you never feel bored. Though I will say finding the treasure chest have become quite hard! The controls were a tad frustrating at first but you soon as pat quite quickly.

The challenge rooms are far more interesting than I initially thought. Reminded me of the challenge rooms in 3D World.

All in all, very impressed.

Finished this now. I smashed through the game and Daily Log says I did the main campaign in 5h32m. The challenge maps look good but I don't like the charge attack controls and I can see myself getting frustrated with them so I'll end my time with this on a high note.

After Captain Toad let me down, I decided to just rent this but I wouldn't have regretted buying it at all. Wonderful game.

I did the lava level with the gondoliers last night. Died so much it asked me did I want to skip the level. Twice. Really fun though.

The gondolas are fantastic. This is a game that just constantly makes you smile with how clever it is.

Gondola. I knew that wasn't the right word I was looking for.

Just finished this. The last few levels were great (the cloned kirby one was amazing).

I wasn't expecting to like the game that much, but it exceeded my expectations.

The game seems to get better and better. I enjoyed world 2 last weekend but the water stages in world 3 were even more enjoyable as they made great use of Kirby and his submarine. I had a quick go on the next level but I stopped after sending Kirby falling to his doom in the pursuit of stars.

It has the right amount of difficulty. The game can be a real bastard if your going after the gold medals/treasure chests.

I beat it in 6 hours with about 81% cleared. I'm tempted to go back and round up the collectables.

Case in point: the first chest on 4-1. I refuse to proceed until I have it! I never usually have a problem guiding the charge attack but, here, it seems to elude me.

First Chest Get! Though, I did miss two other chests, the gold medal and the story book

I loved playing 4-2! The cannons firing off screen made it very tricky to get enough stars for a gold medal, so I settled for silver, but it was great trying to dodge them and use them to destroy terrain so that I could save Kirby's charge attack.

I'm looking forward to playing more once my GamePad charges.

This game is criminally underappreciated! I thought that the rocket level in world four was amazing but the gondolas add a whole new level of wonder! They feel like a new version of the mine carts from Donkey Kong. I don't know how this got such a mixed reception when it came out in America.

I watched the GiantBomb quick look at the time and Dan seemed incredibly cack handed at it, so maybe that was part of it.

But yeah, each world introduces a fantastic new mechanic.

Isn't that just standard practice with GiantBomb vids and a lot of playthrough videos? I've grown to find them maddening.

Dunno about the rest of them, but Jeff seems to go out of his way to be bad at games.

I remember some amazing clips and gifs in the run-up to Super Mario 3D World's release that showed all kinds of journalists being terrible at it.

I can't say anything, I was terrible at this. I died quite a bit in several levels.

I was a bit surprised at how critics viewed this game. It was an absolute joy to play. It's probably my favourite Kirby game after Epic Yarn.

I finished this tonight with 91% completion in about seven and a half hours. As I said earlier, the game really does get better and better. The levels as a whole in world six were great thanks to the lethal challenge of the lava but the real highlights came from the return of the gondolas and ship escape in 6-1 and 6-2.

Level 7-2 was incredible thanks to the multiple Kibrys which borrowed a leaf from Super Mario 3D World and did an excellent job of making it work here. I wish that there were a few more instances of that in the game. Hopefully it will pop up in the challenge rooms.

I very much would like to go back to get all the collectibles and complete the challenge rooms but I'll take a break so that I can try to get through more of the games in my library, mainly on PC. It might not be the longest game in the world, but it has some amazing gameplay elements and, even on the GamePad, it looks and sounds wonderful. It's usually available for less than £25 so I highly recommend it to anyone with a Wii U.
