I've been playing this recently and its really odd. I really like it but yeah it's a really strange game. I love the look and feel, I was initially put off by the time period because I have Mafia 3 but they are at least 20 years apart which I didn't realize plus this takes most of it's look and feel from 1948 movie The Naked City which is a glorious film-noire.

The City is too quiet and crisp, too clinical but I let my partner drive most of the time, also the driving itself is awful, too twitchy. Gameplay is strange, kinda set peices, the interviews though are astonishing and are easily the best thing about the game.

The city itself is an empty affair, it's literally just a space for you to travel in between the set pieces. They could (and maybe should) have scrapped the open world aspect and just had more crime scenes, with you fast-travelling to locations via a map on your office wall or something, that could have worked.

Erm.... It does have that system, if you hold down Y (Triangle on PS4?)walking to the car your partner drives to next place (of your choosing) and after you get in car it cuts to next scene/area of your choosing. That's how I play the game right now.

Yeah, when I've been playing it, I've usually let my partner drive, and I'll occasionally drive to see if I can pick up any shootouts. Is a bit dull though

This game can be funny in places.

This Car dealer dude asked us to 'walk this way'

Is that supposed to happen?

I found the city really really dull. It looks great but there's absolutely nothing to do in it, so after a while I just let my partner drive so I could look at the buildings.

Yeah it’s a joke on his part.

After he does it my partner said “can I shoot this guy? He’s not as funny as he thinks”

I really enjoyed the crime scenes and the questioning, even though I never seemed to get the response I expected.

Person is clearly lying
Present evidence of lying
WTF COLE YOU CAN'T TREAT WITNESSES LIKE THAT
Guess I made a mistake
C- Score.

I find it hard although my options are:
Good Cop
Bad Cop
Accuse

If someone is being honest I can tell usually so I can Good Cop away but the difference between Bad Cop and Accuse is murkier. Accuse can be used to accuse them of just lying, not necessarily committing a crime.

I find if you have any doubt, choose accuse, you can always back out of it if you don't find evidence that directly contradicts the argument they make in their dialogue. What you do have to do is take note of the facial ticks etc before choosing accuse, as backing out seems to default the character model to a fairly innocent looking one (whether it was before or not).

I picked this (PS4) up in the sale it was one of my favourite games on PS3 & even forgot that Cole shouts all
the time in interrogations..

But damn this game is an absolute mess and I don’t remember it on the original version so it must be the team behind the remaster?

I constantly get ridiculous background audio, I could be interviewing in a house & suddenly there’s a 6 car pile up outside, go outside it’s all normal. Or in the police station the constant sound during an interview of someone walking up & down the stairs grinds constantly.

I’ve found the AI to be worse too for traffic, remember on old GTA’s where sometimes it felt you got a shiny car only for some to purposefully crash into you? The amount of times I’m driving and a car makes a sudden lane change or head on collision into me is grinding my gears.

I love the game at its core, but either I let a lot slide in the past or this is a buggy remaster.
