Still play this on and off - have the ambition to get 5 stars on all the missions. Tonight, I played the notorious Golden Butterfly case.

The interrogations can be pretty random - take the final interview with Eli Rooney for example. When you ask him about work, he'll say that he had work and is currently looking for a job. You have to doubt this to get to the right branch in the questioning. The in the next question, about the rope, you have to respond with Truth after Rooney said "any kind of rope will do" - even though from what is said afterwards, he does have a preference for braid. Where's the logic in that?

Also, looking at people's faces isn't always a proper indication as to whether to believe them or not. Some of the actors roll their eyes and shake their heads like they were having a bad LSD trip to indicate they're lying whereas others do something so subtle it might as well be a coincidental blink or something.

So you have this very sophisticated engine that can animate faces in a very life-like and detailed way, in many cases the interrogations are still pretty much trial and error.,.

I finished this with my housemate last night. I found the whole thing really depressing, although that was probably intentional in part with it being noir and everything. I won't be going back to it.

My least favourite bit are the car chases. They rely a lot on the car you're following suddenly turning - through narrow pathways or past obstacles. So it becomes a matter of memorising the route an trying again. A bit cheap.

I realise I complain a lot about this game. Despite annoyances I do enjoy it a lot though.

Just started playing this. Liking this so far. I just switched to black and white to give it a go and I think it it looks miles better this way. The lighting seems to suit it so well, with the heavy shadows and strong contrast, which are much more noticeable and dramatic in monochrome. I thought it looked a little too saturated and cartoony before, but that seems to work really well in the black and white. I think the faces fit in a lot better too, they looked a bit plasticky and weird in colour and much more real in B&W. I didn't think I'd like it but now I'm probably going to play it through this way.

I read that they're already finished with the remaining team relocating to Kennedy Miller Mitchell, including Brendan McNamara?

PC version of LA Noire is being made by Rockstar Leeds.

The summer time is almost over so I've finally gone back to this and play it through now. I've forgotten how bloody good it looks!

I've promoted to Vice Desk and it should be good with the full DLC's I've purchased with the pass a while ago. 8-)

L.A. Noire Developer Closes Its Doors
Team Bondi placed into administration.
Sydney-based development studio Team Bondi, the company behind L.A. Noire, has been placed into administration.

The appointment comes after a rough few months for the studio, which has been rocked by allegations of unsatisfactory working conditions and claims Rockstar was unlikely to publish the developer's next game. Complaints from former employees who were not acknowledged in the credits of the company's blockbuster debut game compounded things further.

According to SmartCompany documents filed with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission indicate Team Bondi went into external administration on August 30.

The appointment comes just weeks after the business was rumoured to be selling assets and non-L.A. Noire intellectual property to filmmaker George Miller's studio KMM.

A source close to the company has indicated to us that, after a deal for the studio's next game fell through, employees of Team Bondi have been folded into KMM and its Dr D Studio division and that they are currently assisting with Happy Feet Two.

We will continue to follow this story and update you as more information becomes available.

strawberry float me.

Can't say I'm too surprised they were unable to secure a future project considering the controversies there in recent times.

Finished this! Here are my thoughts:

- The atmosphere. Srsly, it was Mad Men levels of attention to detail. Music was brilliant, architecture, fashion - everything was perfect and really helped bring the city to life.
- It had loads of people from Mad Men and I was like WTF it's him! *get's GF's attention* LOOK IT'S HIM FROM MAD MEN WHEN'S THE NEW SEASON OUT OMG I CANT WAIT the voice acting was exceptional. I watched the Expendables last night and that had a horrific script.
- The plot was engaging but the repetitive gameplay doesn't really do it any justice
- I used a walkthrough for most of the game; haters gonna hate but I was getting really bored and just wanted it to end

My dream game would be a combination of L.A. Noire and Heavy Rain using the license from The Wire. That would be strawberry floating off the chain can you imagine?

Beautiful to look at. Wonderful performances. The two redeeming features.

Seriously bad controls. All of it. Finding clues is the most frustrating mechanic I've played this generation.

Terrible driving. On rails or what? MAFIA II's mechanics are an absolute joy compared to this.

Boring gameplay overall. Interrogation mechanics don't make any sense...why would a 'Lie' be any more wrong than accusing 'Doubt'? The game put's them in a 'true' or 'false' state. The Notepad mechanics are bad as well. Having to piss about finding the right option and having to press circle, and again, and again etc... to close the book. Why? Combined they completely break the flow; it's exhausting to play.

Yep, that's exactly how I feel right now.

Add some MAFIA II in there.

I think the driving's pretty good.

I love this game. Could be my GOTY if Zelda and MW3 don't live up to expectations.

My mate is loaning me his PS3 copy to play when I get home, although I did have a go with tutorial missions and first case on his PS3 and so far:

- Doesn't look good as I expected to be honest. Some just look bit off - I felt Heavy Rain pulled off better when it comes to face animations.
- Driving feels like it was on rails.
- Controls are bit meh, but got used to it

It's sorta fun but I'm hoping it'll open up when I start cases properly when I get home :)

I thought you might be able to play it as a bad ass crooked cop you know, taking bribes and police brutality but you can't. It's really really boring and linear.

I tried to cause a bit of mayhem in one of the beautifully modeled cars - but the pedestrians are too strawberry floating quick and jump out the way.

I want a new Grand Theft Auto so bad :(

Bad controls - wut?

Terrible driving - again, wut?

And that last paragraph is so baffling I don't even know what to say.. If it was simply true or false the game would be a 50-50 guess on interrogation questions, which would almost entirely ruin the game. In case you hadn't worked out, even after completing the game:

Truth - a true statement, that you know to be true based on what you've learnt already
Lie - the opposite, but backed up with a piece of evidence you've collected
Doubt - from what you've already learnt of the case you suspect them to be lying but don't have the evidence to prove it.

It's a pretty simple system. Granted, it's not perfect but it's different and, I thought, interesting.

Now this is what CSI should be in terms of evidence gathering and interrogation, loved every single of them even though I've strawberry floated up often with latter  Driving doesn't bother me anymore and I'm really enjoying taking my time doing story cases as well street crimes. May go and look for hidden cars as well cars to unlock also.

Glad I borrowed it - ended up enjoying it more than I thought. Too bad there doesn't seem to be any reason to replay any cases other than five-starring them, which is shame as I'd like different outcome and it affecting the story.

I wasn't a fan of the driving either - just get your partner to do it, fast travel all up in there, yo.

The only thing it did really well was make me want to play GTA.
