In terms of build quality of the casing? Yes.

In terms of the specs you are getting for the price? No.

Less "important" components can be an utter pain in the arse when it comes to laptops.

I've seen far more HPs have fan problems than is normal and the speed at which they change models means getting a replacement is difficult and a cheap one nigh on impossible.

Pieces. Of. Junk.

Also decent build quality not being that important is a funny position to hold.

Depends what you buy. I have a HP Elitebook from work and its boss.

I bought that yesterday. Very happy with it, and it runs Skyrim on high.

Edit: No I didn't. Never mind. Got the one up from the Lenovo you posted.

I'd recommend the Lenovo. I have the £500 one which has 8gigs of Ram and it's own graphics card. The £400 has the same (very nice) chassis, with 4gigs and shared graphics, which I am informed is okay value.

Nice, has a quick look at it. Seems really good. I'll let her know.

Then blame you if it's gooseberry fool.

I'll just leave this here. Note the £100 cashback from Lenovo.
