How is that comfy though? Surely being hunched over the coffee table for an extended period of time is going to make you ache after a while? I know what you mean though, I never get more than ten minutes peace when I descend to my man cave.

Back on topic.
Think we'll go for the twin 7970's in crossfire. About the only advantage the 680 would have is PhysX, but the gains from the crossfire performance outweigh that in my opinion.

Why not? RAM is dirt cheap. Hell, for another £80 the XMG can be doubled up again to 32GB.

Though I showed him them this morning and his response to both the XMG and Voyager were,

He prefers form over function. Think he's got it stuck in his head he wants an Alienware because it 'looks cool' so would rather get something that costs more and does less just because it has a snazzy case.

Personally,

I absolutely love the minimalistic style of the XMG.

For reference, I just specced a 17" Alienware laptop and the closest spec I can get costs £1,718.99. And that only comes with a single 7970M rather than the twin ones in crossfire that the Voyager or XMG comes with and only a 1 year warranty instead of 2 year :fp:
You can get two 7970M's in the 18" model however....for a whopping £2,268.99. £700 more than the equivalent spec XMG   :fp:

I wouldn't say £80 was 'dirt cheap', if you want to spend it there are better places to spend the money. As far as I'm aware giving yourself more than 8GB of RAM is pretty much a waste of money. You are better off if you can going for less of faster RAM than more of slower RAM for instance.

£80 for 16GB of RAM is pretty cheap when it's SODIMM.

Go for an MSI GT70 with a GTX 680m card. And the keyboard lights up and gooseberry fool and looks nice :shifty: and the MSI writing on the lid also lights up.

FFS :fp:

He's now insisting it has to be an Alienware because it's the only one that "looks cool".
He's actually willing to take a performance hit, reduction in memory (12GB instead of 16GB) and graphics performance (Single 7970M instead of dual 7970M's), to get an Alienware M17x for the same price as the XMG.

The boy is a strawberry floating idiot :fp:

I've been forced to spec and order an Alienware laptop.

I feel dirty.

From the PC thread:

If not could someone recommend anything better for the price?
