I also found that an odd question.
Are they really proud of the fact that tens of thousands of Amercans have been killed in just a few years by firearms and haven't in Europe?

I’ve heard them say that sort of thing before. They are referring to terrorism and think that if Europe had guns then civilians would be able to shoot terrorists before they managed to kill many people.

Which Las Vegas shows to be utter bollocks.

I wonder how many mass shootings they've had in the US where an armed civilian has been the one to take down the shooter? I bet that hardly ever happens.

Preempting the gun nut response, that'll be because not enough good guys have guns.

Another problem with the idea of a good guy with a gun taking out the bad guy with a gun is that things aren't always clear cut. When the police arrive how would they know who are the good guys and who are the bad guys if you've multiple people in a public space firing at each other? In chaotic, frantic situations, I'd imagine it's a lot easier to identify the bad guys if they're the only ones with guns. Or what happens if one civilian sees another civilian shooting and wrongly assumes they're the gunman? And are the people who are going to be carrying guns all trained in identifying and taking down people in high pressure, chaotic situations with civilians running around and other mitigating factors to take into account?

The good guys will be the ones in cowboy hats and leather chaps.

I've been hearing from American gun owners about how cheap and easy it is to buy certain gun modifications in many US states. Apparently a bump-stock can turn a semi-automatic rifle into something which spits out rounds at a similar rate to a fully-automatic and it can be yours for as little as $100. It's crazy to think how easily someone could murder so many people.

It is crazy that is is legal to buy but they really are not that effective. If he had tried shooting one person 100 meters away he would most likely miss every shot using the higher rate of fire. The reason he was "successful" was due to him shooting in a crowd of 22k people.

Thanks to films/games for years I thought fitting a silencer to a gun made it practically silent. Man was I in for a shock when I shot my neighbour...

This bump-stock thing is the most mealy mouthed bollocks I've heard in a long time. A handy way for the NRA to say 'we're doing something' whilst simultaneously doing grand amounts of strawberry float all.

It was effective when he shot at a crowd but the bump trigger would be less reliable against a solo antagonist apparently that makes me full of gooseberry fool. He used multiple weapons of the same type so planned ahead and looked at shooting toward a crowd not individuals. It could have been worse, it could have been better, this gear should never have be available to buy or sell and yes there should be more gun control but that wont happen till the Republicans get a beating in the polls.

There is a rather out there conspiracy going round that he (or the government) was using an M240, just the thought of that is strawberry floating crazy.

It was.

I wasn't saying you personally reminded me of that guy, or being full of gooseberry fool, just what you said reminded me that I'd seen that bizarre exchange.

"Just be thankful he wasn't more accurate"
"He was firing at a bunched mass of 20k people, what does that matter?"
"If he knew what he was doing, he would have used single shot fire and 360 no scoped thousands."

I thought it was early speculation initially that a belt fed machine gun like an M240 was being used because how long the firing went on for. But we know that it was modified assault rifles and lots of them.

M240 with 10 minutes worth of ammo would have been like something out of a Syrian city. :dread:

Sad that people felt the need to send death threats all because he gave up how guns. It's not like he was judgemental about those who didn't give up theirs.

I like that phrase "be the change you want to see" perfectly sums it up.

It really sucks, his address was leaked online and he's had to move out of the state for a bit for his own safety.
