I bet he's happy he doesn't have to go to Puerto Rico.

Well to be fair it’s an island surrounded by a big big ocean, maybe the biggest ocean know one knows for sure, and to get there you’d have to take a boat or a beautiful yacht, but it’s tremendous the death toll there, such great people and they’re all very impressed with our response let me tell you. God!

Fox News wrote:CBS has parted ways with one of the company’s top lawyers after she said she is “not even sympathetic” to victims of the Las Vegas shooting because “country music fans often are Republican,” when discussing the tragic mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas late Sunday night.

“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” a CBS spokeswoman told Fox News.

Hayley Geftman-Gold, the network's now-former vice president and senior counsel, took to Facebook after a gunman opened fire at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, killing at least 58 people and sending more than 500 others to hospitals.

“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs [sic] will ever do the right thing,” Geftman-Gold wrote in a now-deleted message that was first reported and captured by The Daily Caller.

Geftman-Gold continued: “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [sic] country music fans often are Republican gun toters [sic].”

Many people there would have been tourists (such as UK tennis player Laura Robson)

He wouldn't have been able to bring that many guns in (with ammo) at once surely, which means this must have been planned for days. Every day he must have brought in more and more weaponry.

Wouldn't rule out an inside job at the hotel either. How do you hide that many guns in a hotel room. They'd be cleaned daily.

A friend of mine might have been at this event, they flew over on Sunday, but I don't know for sure as they were going to spend time in New York as well and I don't know their itinerary. There's been no response to my messages, so I'm worried. :(

Apparently there's a gun show coming up in Vegas Sat/Sun so I don't know what the laws are on storing your guns for such events.

Nevada's gun laws are ridiculously lax to the point of being almost non-existent, so it's probably something along the lines of "this state don't care, jus' stick all ya'lls guns in some boxes n have a great tahm."

Yeah. Doesn't help that the fatalities are only just now being made public - albeit a handful at a time.

Put a do not disturb sign on the door and they won’t get cleaned.

This is truly awful. RIP to all those who got caught in this terrible tragedy.

Something has got to be done to stop these gun crimes.

Vegas is such a great place to visit I was only there last year too.

Reminds me of a friend who'd bought a novelty sign from Clintons that read "Do Not Disturb, I'm currently partaking in classic intercourse".

Surely would have aroused suspicion on consecutive days though.

I have friends who refuse to allow room service it to their hotel room. They just permanently adorn their door with the do not disturb sign. So I don't think it's that uncommon.

I'm not sure that reporting on the gunman's interests, or details about his life, counts as him being 'fondly memorialized' - surely just stating facts about him.

Watching the footage on the news is pretty surreal. Being in that huge open space with no idea where the shots were coming from must have been terrifying. :(

Vegas hotels are enormous. I doubt anybody would notice somebody walking in and out with bags a few times a day. And room service wouldn’t take any notice of a “Do Not Disturb” sign even if it was up for the best part of a week.

The footage shown last night on the news where the singer is performing and then you start to hear the gunshots is horrific. :dread:

The context of both of those headlines is at odds. The Miami New Times headline is meant to be critical of the police union chief for making those comments.

It's worrying that the mass murder of small children at Sandy Hook didn't make this guy think "Hmm maybe something should be done" but at least he has now realised. Hopefully him speaking out will make a few other 2nd Amendment supporters think.
