It's worrying that the mass murder of small children at Sandy Hook didn't make this guy think "Hmm maybe something should be done" but at least he has now realised. Hopefully him speaking out will make a few other 2nd Amendment supporters think.

I think many gun owners imagine themselves as action heroes in situations like this. They believe they'd be able to shoot the attacker and save people, but they don't realise reality is very different to what they see in the movies.
