Only recently discovered this band (after hearing their 2013 album Coal some time last year) and I have to say how brilliant they are, this being my current favourite of their albums, I feel it gets the juxtaposition of heavy and gentle just right (something I've always liked with bands like Deftones, Tool and even Led Zeppelin) .

9/10

Don't worry, I am not going to take over the thread again with this!

I listen to a lot of music while I am working, but I am sick to death of the radio and tend to listen to the same stuff over and over again on Spotify.

So I'm going to set myself a challenge of working my way through Rolling Stone magazine's 500 greatest albums. Which is actually 684 albums, as they have redone the list 3 times.

Luckily, somebody has already made a spreadsheet of the albums and so I have just stolen that and adapted it for my needs.

I've marked off the ones I am 100% sure I've already listened to all the way through. Which brings the number to 641. I'm sure I've listened to more than that, but I am not absolutely certain, so will keep them on the list. Rather than starting with the "best" or "worst" of the list, I'm going to just pick at random.

I'll probably never finish this, but it gives me something to do while working. ;)

Nevermind being #17 yet Dark side of the moon being #44 is a joke.

Also hate how Nirvana always make the top 20-40 in these lists yet their contemporanies like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains always end up largely forgotten.

I'm not really judging the various lists, rankings are always daft as nobody has the same opinion.

It's just a way to force myself to listen to stuff I wouldn't usually bother with. I find doing stuff like this always ends up with some great surprises.

Just finished Country Life by Roxy Music. It's decent enough, but the album artwork is very distracting. ;)

That a great album, my parents are both fans so I heard it (and a variety of other 70's stuff) loads of times growing up.

I was very very wrong about not finishing, I've just finished the last album from the Rolling Stone lists. I've listened to stuff I hated but overall absolutely loved doing this.

So much so that I've decided to carry on listening to things I've never listened to before. I found a website that listed the albums on NME's top 500 albums, plus a list called 1001 Albums to Listen to Before You Die (this website has all sorts of others that I'm ignoring!) and am going to work my way through those as well. Rolling Stone, NME and 1001 Albums to Listen to Before You Die combined (after taking out duplicates!) is 1,482 albums.

After removing the ones I'm 100% certain I've listened to before, it leaves me with 790 albums to listen to. That should keep me busy until at least Christmas.

Just listened to Janelle Monáe's album "The ArchAndroid".

Wow, maybe it's because recently I've listened to a lot of stuff I didn't much like, but it blew me away. Brilliant album and nothing at all like I was expecting.

Facelift is equally excellent.. I don't really like their post Layne stuff that much though, just doesn't sound quite right without him.
