It was my last day ever at Woolworths today and it was an emotional day but I'm glad I stayed until the drunken end. We managed to play netball, rounders, football and volleyball all instore today as well as statues at the front window in front of bewildered shoppers and it was a fun and fitting end.

So to make this less about me what was the last work ending you had and was it fun or agonising?

The strange thing is, I went in to the woolworths in a small town I live near today. It was really, really strange considering I remember going in there as a kid and always seeing the shelves stacked high all day long.

There was almost nothing left, it was quite sad really.

I went into town today and all that is left of Woolworths is the shelves inside, brick wall where the pick and mix was :( There are three shops that weren't there last time though, one shop dies, three appear.

Your last day sounded great

Pete did were you allowed to haul some stock aside to purchase at a discount or were managements being banana splits and making you buy stuff with the rest of us?

We need a department store though, we have somewhere in the region of 10 mobile phone shops, 10-15 hairdressers, and around 8 pubs in the centre, and not enough casual shops.

Maybe it's all down to a single Chav, who happens to be a gypsy and is a Muslim? Now that would be interesting.

Too small for a department store. We need better shops though, there's two in the whole centre. HMV and Game. There's two new phone shops in the centre though :| We have way too many of them.

Sorry about the late reply but yes we all managed to get our hands on some juicy 90% discounts. I now have enough 360 and PS3 games to last me the whole of 2009 and a spare 360 premium for when my launch console finally decides to die.

That's good mate, I know a guy ato ur store and they werent allowed to haul anything for the last days, One guy got dismissed for trying!

In regards to Dodems comment, It may be small, but it could always become multi-story, Our town needs something as all we have for young'un's is HMV and Game.

Good luck finding a new job, Pete. Your last day sounded awesome.
My local Woolworths will be closing soon, then. I wonder what will replace it? It used to be the shining light in an otherwise shithole of a town.

I'm not the sort that's got the drive to go for a high pressure job and I'm not that bothered about money. As long as I have enough to live on I'm fine with that. I've had my fill of long hours in past jobs so all I want now is a job that I like and that pays a modest wage. I'm not asking for a lot but in the times we live in now I may still be expecting a bit much.
