The Autopsy of Jane Doe - 7/10. Decent enough horror movie. Creepy and can be gruesome. My only gripe is that it starts to unravel in the third act, but luckily manages to tie itself back up again towards the end.

Oh and Jane Doe herself :datass:

I have no idea what this movie is, but based on the title and knowing what a "Jane Doe" is, I can only assume that Gandalf is in to necrophilia.

I'm not. But you'll have to watch the movie to see....

Silence 8/10 Some of the cast are a little sidelined in the second half, but otherwise this is an engaging look at Japanese torturing Christians.

I've got the original on DVD, (Masahiro Shinoda, 1971). I'm tempted to see Scorsese's version but I'm not sure I want to through the torture scenes again..... Quite torn on whether to see it or not.

The Witch. Couldn't make out at least 50% of the dialogue. Turned it off.

Speed 10/10 - God tier action. Along with Die Hard, one of the perfect action films, not a bit of wasted dialogue or suspense in it.

The Good Dinosaur - 8/10

Story was classic Disney, nothing particularly innovative about it, but the environment visuals were unbelievably good. Genuinely couldn't tell what was CGI and what was real life at times, absolutely stunning.

Shame the characters themselves were plasticine freaks that looked totally out of place with the immaculate scenery. It's Pixar's first truly *bad* film.

Clue: If you see a dinosaur, that was CGI as they don't exist.

Yes?

Watched that the other day, could understand them but was a bit slow paced for me.

The bit where they manage to jump over the broken bridge - despite the ramp probably being at about a 5% angle's - strawberry floating amazing.

The Cabin the Woods - 8/10. That was fun.

What's bad about it? There weren't any plot holes or contradictions, it was just a generic story, the main character had a standard arc, but that doesn't make it a bad film. Yes the dinosaurs looked simplistic but again why is that bad? Was just a design choice that Pixar made and it didn't bother me at all. It didn't affect the story and didn't make me care less about the characters.

Hell or a High Water - 7/10

Strong performances by Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine and Ben Foster. Loved the cinematography and music, the story was pretty straightforward but well executed. Did think Bridges slipped into Rooster Cogburn territory at times but he's great so I'll allow it.

Loved Hell or High Water. Like you say, pretty simple premise but everything is slick and so well performed. One of my films of 2016, that.

The film is about 20 minutes too long and the trademark Pixar sad moment is totally unneccessary and drives too big a wedge between the characters for everything to simply be instantly resolved and sorted out later in the plot.

the clash of styles between environments and characters was a really bizarre choice too. Like Pixar just made the film to be a technological benchmark and then they realised that if they did realistic dinosaurs in a realistic world you'd get Dinosaur flashbacks but it was too late to start from scratch.
