Like Ecno above, I enjoyed that one song but thought the actual story was a bit meh. It was harmless enough though and the CGI was very pretty. My daughter liked the bit with the fish and chicken, so that's something.

Jemaine Clement makes the film with the giant crab. "You can't run from me! Oh! You can! You humans continue to surprise me!"

I watched quite a bit of the film Spectral on Netflix which while not great was watchable until the bad guys turned out to be machines made of a Bose-Einstein Condensate that makes them invisible except to these special cameras they handily have and can only be hit with bullets made from a new type of matter that they somehow MacGyver from parts from guns and other random gooseberry fool.

I can normally handle technobabble but this took it to a whole new level of bollocks and the special effects were made by the guys who did Lord of the Rings so it's not like it's a B movie.
Pants/10

Terminator 2 3D

Normally I wouldn't give a dam about 3D bollocks but this was really well done. Bra strawberry floating vo, I was legit impressed.

My only complaint are the Kyle scene isn't in as well as the alternate power scene where they take the chip out & I missed the opening scene as they seemed to be short staffed on the tills :x

5/5

This is original cinema version. Those scenes are in super extended versions on blu ray. Liked it in 3D tonight!

I'm not normally a big fan of 3D but Terminator 2 was surprisingly good, especially considering it's such an old film. Makes you realise the shoddy job they do in most blockbusters released in 3D.

It was good to see this on the big screen, definitely one of my favourite action films ever. Arnie's one arm reloading of his shotgun never gets old.

Terminator 2 3D - 10/10

The 3D was pretty subtle, to be honest I'm not sure it added a whole lot to the film, but it didn't take away from it either. The film stands on its own.

That bit was brilliant. They must have designed the character around him, it's a perfect fit. Song is very Flight of the Conchord's esque.

I was surprised to see him in a Disney film to be honest but apparently they went for people with Polynesian heritage and he has a Maori mother.

Lucky Logan - 7/10

I enjoyed this, it was pretty funny once it got going. The jokes took a bit of time to start landing but when they did it worked well. Story was stupid but fun, and to be fair the heist was very clever in parts. Very different kind of role for Daniel Craig too...

Went to see this last night as well. Movie is still strawberry floating incredible. The stunts. The action. The amount of 'oh gooseberry fool' moments. One of the most relentless and terrifying bad guys in film history. Linda mummy strawberry floating Hamilton.

The 3D was very present at the start of the movie, but it sorted died off after that. As you say, it doesn't really matter when you have a film as good as that one. I was a little bit sad that they didn't do the extended cut as I liked the added scenes in that one. But that's an incredibly minor gripe.

I'd say the extended cut is pretty much essential as the 'chip removal' scene basically explains one of the major plot/themes of the movie, and the Kyle scene explains why Sarah Connor is so desperate to escape at the start.

Didn't he do the music for the Muppets movie(s)?

The song is brilliant, I have never seen Flight of the Conchord's, but it made me think of David Bowie.

I think the other one from Flight of the Conchords did the Muppets soundtrack (at least for the 2011 one, haven't paid much attention to the newer film)

Yeah-Bowie is a pretty big influence for them and they've referenced him before-they have a song "Bowie in Space"

Crimson Peak - 6/10

+ Nice visual effects (in places)
+ Atmospheric
+ Decent performances
+ Mildly intriguing plot

- Some of the visual effects are ropey
- A bit predictable
- Just...not all that interesting

I had reasonably high expectations for this given del Toro's involvement, but it was just a bit forgettable and bland. The design of the house was good, as was the element of mystery surrounding it, but those soon faded and I found myself wishing there was more to it all. Okay, but nothing special.

Fantastic Four 4/10 - Not sure I believe Josh Trank when he's say that he had a brilliant version of this film that was lost in studio pushed re-shoots and editing. It's really, really not very good. Doom is awful and Miles Teller manages to make Reed Richards x100 more unlikeable than I usually find him. There are enormous swathes of nothingness and then a bit of an action sequence at the end. Struggling to find a positive - maybe the casting of Kate Mara who succeeding in making Sue Storm invisible without any special effects.

The Garden of Words - 7/10

+ Lovely animation
+ Decent music
+ Fairly original premise
+ Some touching scenes

- Ending was pretty gooseberry fool

The Dark Tower

Much more enjoyable than I was expecting. Really good fun.

It's been a very long time since I read the books, but I'm fairly sure this was almost an entirely different story?!

Annabelle Creation

Shite. Just one creepy set piece after another, over and over again.

"Can you help me?"
"What do you need?"
"...YOUR SOUL!"

 :fp:

Best bit is when the demon bangs the hot nun up against the wall, because that's exactly what I was picturing myself doing.
