Not a film as such, but a 7.5 hour long documentary (split into 5 parts), so makes sense to talk about it here I think.

It pretty much charted his life from high school football star right through to today, with (obviously) massive focus on the trial, and long interviews with the prosecution, the defense, the DA, the LAPD, some of the jurors..basically anyone involved.

There's too much to write about here, but it was really interesting, and the subtext of the race riots, Rodney King, LAPD etc was all covered in-depth as well. Genuinely interesting, and tragic in so many ways, with plenty of WTF moments when it came to the trial, some of the decisions made, the jury, the LAPD's actions, and OJ's life in general.

Check out American Crime Story if you can. It's only about the trial but it's terrific all the way through.

Did it talk about his appearances in the Naked Gun films? Good times.

Or about when he was going to play the Terminator but was dropped from the role as they thought he was too nice? :slol:

Not sure about the Terminator but it definitely mentions the Naked Gun films, think someone makes a reference to them when he's trying to put the gloves on in court

It's an excellent documentary btw, I never realised how good he was at American football.

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

It did talk about the Naked Gun films, and some of the other films he was in as well.

I was too young to really be aware of who he was at the height of his fame/infamy and only ever knew vague details of the case, so it was a great insight. As an NFL fan the football bits were interesting too.

That review is far more enjoyable than the movie I'm betting.

I've watched this a few times now and it is always a treat. I still can't quite decide if, in many instances, the characters are acting or if it is genuine. Billy Mitchell comes across as such an arse... but there is still something about him that makes you want to watch. There are so many interesting geeks in the film and it's marvelous to see their passion for particular games in the Extras section.

It could be the best videogame film / documentary ever made; it's certainly a lot of fun to watch. 8/10.

Just watched it through again and it really is exceptional. So many characters! Of course, the record has changed hands several times since this was made ten years ago, but it remains compulsive viewing.

Agree.

Billy Mitchell is such a good villain. Was booing and hissing as soon as he appeared on screen. Hard to believe he was in Eastenders too!

Ahem.

He seems like the kinda guy that didn't need to try that hard to exude a combination of comical evil combined with insufferable smugness. Brilliant  .

Lego Batman -10/10 third viewing, this time on Blu-ray.

Just so good. Easily in my top 3 Batman movies of all time. The music is exceptional and the batwing rescue scene is as good as any action scene in a Batman movie.

Wish my image sig would work

John Wick - 7/10

I was really expecting more from this after reading a lot of good things about it but it just never really hit the heights for me. I've been trying to put my finger on exactly what let me down about it but it's a tricky one, I think the action didn't really hold up as well as it could have done, and when action is really all you have to rely on then that's an issue. I don't think it felt like JW really earned any of his victory's in the various encounters that occurred which left it all feeling rather unsatisfying - like playing an FPS where the enemies just seem to line up and let you headshot them.

Still going to give the sequel a try, may enjoy that more now that I'm heading in with lower expectations.

Glad I stuck with this as the ending was really well done and wrapped things up nicely.

The Big Lebowski - 9/10

Brilliant and incredibly odd at times, that dream sequence is probably one of the strangest things I've ever seen in a mainstream film.

I really wanted a white russian afterwards, sadly there was no Vodka available to me (or kahlua for that matter).

I'm going to switch it off now as I can't watch anymore, particularly if they try and redo the Bill Paxton scene.

I watched the whole thing.

You were right to turn it off after 15 minutes.

The thing I don't understand about the entire Terminator franchise is the obvious thing to make a film about is the war between the robots and the humans as shown by the famous clip from T2 of the robot rolling over a floor of skulls.
Sure it would have been expensive but it's what the series needed but they just didn't bother.
Just show the war against Skynet :x .

The future-war scenes with Reese in the original film are some of the most grim and oppressive visions of the future I've ever seen. If they made a film of that it'd be strawberry floating incredible.

TERMINATORS - loads of TERMINATORS killing humans in the future

TERMINATOR5 - exactly the same as the above but cleverly using a 5 instead of an S. Set before Terminator Genisys so Ok to be the 5th installment.

TERMINATORZ - if any film execs aren't down with the 5, this is exactly the same as the above but with Zombies to pull in the Walking Dead crowd.

Yes?

Wonder Woman

Its actually really good; not just 'good for a DC film' or 'good cos its got a woman in it', but thoroughly enjoyable with a solid enough plot and decent performances all round. My main complaint is that there was too much slow-motion during the fight scenes, some of which was oddly-timed. Hopefully this is the start of an upswing in DC's film making and its a shame that WW needed to be placed in Bats vs. Supers first as a primer before getting a solo film.

The story has been there since the start and there's loads of scope for heroes and villains on both sides in an all out war of humanity against the machines. Even now after all the gooseberry fool they could still do this and it would be amazing they could even make it into a series rivalling GoT if they just put the money and effort in.
They could even explain the desperation of the robots to send assassins into the past and the building of the time machine itself as maybe they had human collaborator scientists helping them.

The TV series, Sarah Connor Chronicles, had human collaborators working with the machines. It was far more interesting than anything 3, Salvation or Genesys came up with.
